Across the US, More FM News!

talk and news does not make any different. Like one station playing classical music and and one station playing heavy metal.

It's so clear now that you explained it.

Update NYC now has 3 all-news stations WCBS, WEMP 101.9 and WINS 1010.

4 if you count WBBR Bloomberg News Radio. All those news stations no mostly local talk station. New York could easily support a talk station like KGO. :)

With 250 watts at an unlimited height, they cover metro's as well as class A's.

Not in the Bay Area.

That's such a geographically spread market, a 250 watt translator even at some height wouldn't get squat in a market that stretches from Santa Rosa to Gilroy to Livermore.

Heck, even full-power SF-licensed FMs have to have boosters to serve the far East Bay.

Do you know what a class A FM station is?
Not supposed to cover a large market, just about a ten mile radius.

But either a class A or a "super translator" gets you basically nothing in the Bay Area.

Look at 92.7/Alameda, which has been going hand-to-mouth its entire life.

These 250 watt monsters may get you the immediate SF/Oakland/Berkeley area, if that, or some other subset of the Bay Area market.

But since we're on the SF boards, and talking about FM news...no. It wouldn't be an option should, say, Citadel-turned-Cumulus wanted to plant KGO or KNBR on FM.
