Action News...

I like Action News..always have, guess I am old school. Ok, except for the ‘weather tart’ but that is a subject for another day...last night I saw one of the worst cases of what was really a promo for an ABC show shown under the guise of a 'news' piece. It was a medical report about injuries from dancing like those on Dancing with the Stars. They constantly pushed and mentioned the show…it was pathetic. I dropped Faux news years ago when they started doing this for their shows (ie American Idol). Sad to see Action News become more and more like Faux. Sorry, I now this has been covered before…..just needed to vent….

That's nothing new, most of the ABC owned and operated stations as well as affiliates, have been pushing certain prime time reality programs as hard as Fox has for a couple of years now. The Batchelor and Batchelorette were making "news" a couple of years ago. And now "Dancing With The Stars" is being pushed on pretty much all ABC stations as if it were really news.

I think that the whole trend bastardizes what is "news" and hurts the credibility of news departments who try to convince us that a stupid TV show should be getting precious time in a newscast that could have gone to a legitimate story.

But don't hate Fox for this because NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox all do this now. And, if you think the newscasts are bad, check out the morning shows. Particularly that first "hard news" half-hour. Because sometimes they can't help themselves and slip their promos in the middle of serious news. All in all, it's a major peeve.

Not sure what "Faux news" is. Do you have a problem with Fox News in general? FNC or Fox29. FNC is more Fair and Balanced than its competition.

Those who are not interested in a diversity of news voices and opinions use that lame term to deride FNC.
