active rock

Sure hope so, but South Florida demographics suggest otherwise.
Sad, we now have more sports and spanish than rock.

The Gater certainly has been trending in the Active Rock direction. While they are still heavily Classic Rock, they do play more and more 90s-type Alternative Gold.

this is a dead format

all the good "could have been" rock talents are moving to country bc thats where the money is now

when the product comes out to support a full time station, it'll happen, until then we're stuck with rehash of the 1975-2009 songs that we've all heard over and over again

and in South Florida there is no way it will happen anytime soon bc of the demographics

As you said that rock was a dead format I just looked at Billboard Top 200 to confirm this and much to my surprise it is filled with many rock artists including the #1 album. Many rock listeners that I know have given up on regular radio a long time ago and listen only to internet stations. Its funny though as the March ratings show, the local country station is still behind that station that just plays the rehash of the 1975-2009 songs that we've all heard over and over again. So I must assume that someone still must like that dead format.

What's the reach of 98.7 Gater's signal deep into South Florida? Can you pick them up in Kendall, Weston, etc....?

Gater, just like most WPB stations, puts in a listenable signal in Broward County in some spots. Theirs was one of the most iffy as a Ft. Pierce station, but still listenable on a car radio in Broward. I found the further west one went, the signal was improved.

The only two stations I would say that put a listenable signal in both counties would be WRMF or WEAT.

South of Sample Road, the Gater's signal is not reliable. I agree with the previous poster; the Gater's signal is almost suspiciously good as one travels west. I have heard the Gater on I-595 as well as Alligator Alley. I have also picked them up as far west as Hendry County.
