Actor Gary Coleman dies of brain hemorrhage

Pretty sad news. I'm sure somewhere in heaven there will be the line ...

"What you talkin' about God?"

And the audience there will laugh loud and long.

And now, Gary's in heaven, starring in a 2010 version of "The Gary Coleman Show". (Those who know 1980s Saturday Morning TV will know what I mean.)

So sad to hear about this, but y'all know what's going to happen now right? Unfortunately the "media", since he is no longer alive to defend himself, just like any other celebrity with a troubled past, will try to dig up any "juicy" story or make one and forget all about his acting career, even though his fame came on the show "Diff'rent Strokes". But nonetheless, a very sad end to a very tragic life.

I didn't want to be the first to say this. People seem to forget about some of Coleman's actions. With that being said, he was a troubled human being and I do hope he's found some peace somewhere in the afterlife.

I don't have any strong opinions about Gary Coleman, pro or con. I was not a fan of Diff'rent Strokes, s ridiculous low quality sit-com if there ever was one.

Gary was obviously a troubled person. [EDIT-Reference to removed quote]

Well, I hope that out of respect for Coleman fans that Boomerang does not air the show until the news dies down. (The show was produced by Hanna-Barbera and aired on NBC during the 1982-83 Saturday morning lineup).

Usually, it works the other way around... Was the animated show that bad?

In a related story, another celebrity with financial troubles has now left us:

Well, with all due respect, they say these things come in threes... Who's next this weekend?

Actually there were 4, Slipknot's Bassist Paul Gray died this week as well.

Joe,

Dennis Hopper was the third. Art Linkletter, Gary Coleman, and now Dennis Hopper.

Too bad he had to grow out of the role.

As cute and as funny as Gary Coleman was on "Diff'rent Strokes"....he was even cuter and funnier the year or two before, when he was used in a recurring role on "Good Times".

Had "Good Times" made him a permanant cast member, he could have kept the show going for years....

Let's also remember the recurring role he played on "America 2nite" shortly before "Diff'rent Strokes" came along, and helped get him noticed for the job.

There seems to be some kind of curse on the kids on
"Diff'rent Strokes." Dana Plato died several years ago
(anorexia, I think); Todd Bridges has been in and out of
trouble and is trying to get his life together; now Gary
Coleman passes on. I can't think of another kid-oriented
sitcom where the kids met such fates as adults.

And while he didn't appear on the show, the son of Dana Plato had committed suicide just a few months ago or so...

Good point, only1moore. There's a potential "trifecta" still at play this year. I hope the woman who played Pearl the maid is in good health today...
