Actor Steve Forrest Dies at 87

He has the distinction of playing two characters on Dallas, both of whom were written with the same purpose: to bring back the character of Jock Ewing. The first character he played was erased by the infamous "dream season" contrivance; so they brought him back next season to play the same sort of character but with a different name.

May he R.I.P..

He also starred in one of many filmed-in-England flops that
dotted ABC's schedule in the late '60s and early '70s: "The
Baron," where he played the owner of fine antique shops in
London, Paris, and Washington and who moonlighted as an
agent for British Intelligence. The character, whose name was
John Mannering, grew up on a ranch in Texas (shades of things
to come) called "The Baron," hence his nickname. This one lasted
from January to July 1966. "S.W.A.T.," I think it's fair to say, was
his biggest success.

Didn't know he was Dana Andrews' brother.

He was excellent playing a very evil villian (same character) in two episodes of Gunsmoke.

He also played a sleazy carnie who tries to get publicity for his circus by capturing Richard Kimble in a 1965 episode of The Fugitive.
