AD-Dave leaving WARQ

Guest
Afternoon jock (Attention-Deficit) Dave Farra has resigned from WARQ 93.5 Columbia. His last airdate is July 22.

Well, lookee there. What the heck is that station going to do? None of the other dayparts have much character. Maybe this'll be a chance for the morning show to step up and do something...well, frankly, different.

The word is that Dave and his crew landed a BIG gig.

Hopefully, its a really great gig. Dave was one of the teens that hung around the station back in the day -- particularly with Susan Groves. Very glad to hear that he's really making a name for himself. David Adedekin (sp?) was one of the others that used to hang around. I got a chance to hear him on Andy Thomas' Teen Forum Show and he sounded great. Its reassuring to know that there are younger folks that are out there with an interest and drive to get in the biz.

Shameless plug: WXRY is going to be looking for a few up and comers soon. We're small, but trying to coach folks along in our own way. Hopefully, we don't skew too "old" for them.

Feel free to hit us/me up at info (at) wxryfm dot org (sorry about having you need to type it in, we're trying to avoid the inevitable spambots -- like we need to increase the size of our body parts or get home-equity mortgages).

Steve-

I'm shocked that you remember me, as I was just one of your many loyal listeners back "in the day" on Rock 93.5. Thanks for the well wishes.

Best,

Attention Deficit Dave

Unfortunately, I have to agree that Dave will be sadly missed.

Whether you liked the format or not, the show was never dull. Probably the most creative show on the air in this town in years!!! Kind of reminded me of the afternoon guy on the old Y-97 (Greg?) just before it switched to Kicks 96. Or maybe similar to Ron Jordan back in his heyday. Funny, creative, energetic, and just plain unpredictable.<P ID="signature">______________

Not a problem. I still pull up the Jonathon Rush toupee thing when I need a HUGE laugh. Very well done and glad to see that you, too, made the Free-Times Best Of. I find it great to learn that folks that enjoyed listening to what we did "back in the day" have turned out to be even better and more successful than we did.

Some unsolicited advice. It is always, "about the money" even when they say its not about the money. So don't be afraid when you negotiate to ask for just a little more than you think you are worth. The worst they can say is no and counteroffer. It only took me post-radio to learn that!

Now back to making our Toy the best damn Toy it can be...

ADD is doing exactly what ALL stations should be doing: taking chances and being creative.

Thanks again man. I really am very flattered by your comments, and those of others. It's very rewarding to have collegues recognize the work that goes into making a show entertaining.

Best,

Attention Deficit Dave

I have to agree the Rush toupee thing was a classic. So where are you headed to ADD?

I agree. Hopefully Dave is moving to a major gig & the rest of the local talent will pay attention. Take some chances. Everything is not going to be a home run, but lets at least try. Quit using so many "services" to write your stuff & be daring. Columbia radio is never going to produce major market stars if they are happy just to adapt a few liners from an online service and use a lot of canned laughter. Dave & the gang had fun & it showed. Good luck guys and the rest of Cola. step up to the plate.

Sorry I couldn't say anything before now. Here's the press release:

INFINITY Alternative KXTE/LAS VEGAS debuted a new PM Drive show called, "THE XTREME DISORDER" today (8/1). The show is in-bound from INNER CITY BROADCASTING Alternative WARQ (ROCK 93.5)/COLUMBIA, SC -- APD/MD/afternooner DAVE FARRA (aka ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER), co-host BRIAN KEADLE (aka BRIAN BLACK), and sidekick/stunt guy SHANE HARRINGTON (aka LEMMY). MD CARLY BROWN shifts from afternoons to middays; JEFF ANDERSON exits the station.

KXTE VP/GM MARTY BASCH said, "There has never been a personality driven afternoon show in the Las Vegas market and we are delighted to be the first. I am excited about the upcoming possibilities `THE XTREME DISORDER' will bring to KXTE. 'THE XTREME DISORDER' will give us the opportunity to really work outside the confines of the radio studio and give our audience more access to the station and its personalities. Additionally, it creates a new and unique outlet for our advertisers."

In a related announcement, KXTE has changed its slogan to "X 107.5 XTREME ROCK RADIO," rebranding the station and expanding its playlist to include more Rock music. KXTE PD CHRIS RIPLEY said, ""KXTE will continue to bring the best of XTREME and Rock music that LAS VEGAS has come to expect from us. The bold new logo reflects the improvements we've made to KXTE and conveys our message to the LAS VEGAS listening audience about our recent changes."

Well, Well, Well! Congrat's. Not a bad jump, huh? Probably not much of a change though. Columbia,,,,,Vegas,,,,, yeah, virtually the twin cities. Sure you have plenty to do than fool with this board, but if you get a chance and have the time I'm sure a lot of us would like to hear about how the courtship started, how long it took, did they offer you any more money than ya'll were making in columbia.(hee, hee, haw, haw, cough, sputter, roll onto floor)

At any rate-- Have a ball. Show the big time Columbia's best!!!
