Ad Spending

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/28/business/media/coronavirus-pandemic-advertising-industry.html
^^^
"The research firm Forrester predicted last week that advertising spending in the United States
would decline by 25 percent this year and would not recover until 2023."

I watch the reruns subchannels (MeTV, Comet TV etc.) and listen to Music radio and Talk radio,
I haven't watched any TV shows on the Major Networks for several years (I get 43 channels via
a UHF loop TV antenna).

I haven't noticed much difference yet as to the type of ads.

I have noticed more Per Inquiry advertising these days and big bulk buyers on TV where their spot might run every break or at minimum every half hour.

From my location I can choose North Texas/South Oklahoma TV or Dallas/Fort Worth. Watching the former is almost painful since I'm in sales, breaks in their 6 or 10pm News might be 3.5 minutes but contain 1 or if they're lucky, 2 commercials followed by station promo after station promo. Pre-Covid, I think they might have run one promo per break.

Those subchannel networks are already filling most of their ad time bottom-of-the-barrel advertisements like MyPillow and LifeAlert.

Certainly my employer in small-market radio has been significantly impacted by the decline in advertising. The decline has hit just about all the main street businesses, everything from insurance agencies to restaurants to dentists and grocers.

What all channels do you pick up and what antenna do you have Ive been considering going this route myself?

I had an old Jensen (indoor) UHF Loop antenna (all our DTV signals are UHF) that I put outside,
the twin lead (needed for the tiny space to the outside) is connected to a 300>75 transformer,
then a 1>3 splitter for 3 DTV receivers (currently get 43 channels, see:
http://www.tvfool.com/ for detailed info on local DTV signals).

Walmart sells several smaller outdoor (D)TV antennas, I'm considering replacing the UHF Loop
with one of these (might reduce the impact of multipath during stormy weather due to tree
branches moving around).
