Adam 12

I've been a fan of Adam 12 for a long time. I remember watching several years back when it was on ME-TV and when ME-TV was on WZME 43.1 out of Bridgeport, CT. And I still watched it after it moved to COZI-TV. I remember after it moved to COZI-TV is was poorly edited - like cutting to commercials in the middle of the scene. And you could see where commercials aired when the show originally aired. Now that Adam 12 has moved back to ME-TV and we have a new ME-TV O&O here in Hartford (WHCT-LD 35.1 albeit not on cable) I've noticed the editing on the show is back to normal. How is this possible?

I've noticed with some shows on Shout Factory TV's channel on Pluto TV that ads will interrupt at unscheduled times instead of the natural break. I've noticed it on The Prisoner.

Once these shows go out to syndication most of the contracts are offered to allow for the buyer to use, or break them up in any which way they choose within limits. That said, keeping the original commercial cut time makes them more palatable for the audience. Adam12 was a continuation of the Dragnet series but with younger characters. It did quite well on NBC for the first few years but the ratings eventually declined and was cancelled in 1975.
