ADAM CAROLLA ON FREE FM

I thought Adam was to start on the 3rd. I'm hearing him now on line from 97.1 FREE FM (here in NY). Sounds like a bunch of recored bits. Sounds like this show is going to tank.

I think Springfield is making an accurate prediction because while we have yet to hear Corolla's morning show, everyone knows he was carried by Jimmy on the man show, Dr. Drew was the true talent behind Loveline and his Comedy Central show sucks and was bumped to a later time like 2 weeks after its debut.

As a premature prediction, before any of the shows have begun:

Considering how David Lee Roth has absolutely no experience, and that his show was put on in most of the larger markets (NYC, Philly, Dallas) where quality will be expected from day 1, I'd say that his show will plummet first. Of course, just a prediction. Perhaps his show will do fine.

Regardless of whether Carolla is funny or not, he's been on the air before and has some idea of what he's doing. Haven't heard much about Rover, though his show in the past had seemed more suited for 2-3 station distribution than the large show that he will be running. In my opinion, the Free FM morning show that is most opt tosee success is The Junkies, which is actually considered part of CBS' morning plan although they are only on two stations.

KLSX stream??

They're streaming KTWV on their site. What's wrong?

Wrong plug:)? I hope they resolve it for 6 AM.

I think it is kinda strange that his show is starting at 6am in L.A. but for markets like phoenix who are in the mountain time zone, the show wont start till 7am. This seems very wrong. Guess someone dropped the ball on this one.

Ok...here is the OFFICIAL M-F LINE UP FOR 'LSX, starting TOMMORROW.

5am-10am: Adam Carolla
10am-11am:penn Jillette
11am-3pm: Frosty, Heidi, Frank
3pm-8pm: Tom Leykis
8pm-11pm: Conway & Whitman
11pm-3am: John & Jeff
3am-5am: The Single Life with Sam Phillips

Also correction, Diamond Dave HAS some radio experience, although limited. He did mornings for a week on KCBS-FM/Arrow 93. I understand he was being considered for the morning position until thet got Johnny B.

He did a week up here in Boston as well, on classic rocker WZLX. So that gives him a total of two weeks of radio experience, in markets #3 and #9. It's nothing close to the experience of the other Free FM hosts (except Penn Jillette).

Dave spun records in the 80's in Seattle, post Van Halen. He would sing the lead in to "Just a Gigolo" prior to speaking or playing tunes. He believes he should be able to do five hours since he has performed for tens of thousands at a time. Of course, on stage in a stadium and the grind of five hours a day are 'somewhat' different, one would think.

Where did you get your "official" information?

"Official" without confirmation. In fact, part of this is NOT happening.

> 10am-11am:penn Jillette
> 11am-3pm: Frosty, Heidi, Frank

10:00 this morning, the Triplets were on. No Penn Jillette.

KLSX website confirms Triplets at 10:00. No Penn Jillette on website.

So, Don, your "official" source would be ...?
______________

Don eats Humble Pie

The "Official" source was cbsradio.com when they announced the "Free FM" format to originally. I just went with that. Please understand that sometimes, stations do not put in the full schedule, and I thought that was the case when I posted

However, obviosuly I was mistaken, and I apologize and retract. Everything else still stands.

However, let me put out that would be interesting if 'LSX could acquire the services of Mr. Jillette. for that hour. He is probably one of the most intellgent people on the planet and he always makes good radio.

Again, my bad.

I wish Don had been right

As a fan of the Showtime series with the title our auto-censoring software would bleep out, I wholeheartedly agree with that statement, Don.

It is unfortunate that the Los Angeles market was excluded from the list of Free FM stations carrying Penn's hour.
______________
