HEY ALL--

i am not trying to get in anyones business-- but can you all tell me how this is panning out? i have been a big follower of adam cook thru the years and sent him about a million tapes back in the day-- i heard btls talking about it-- and i have read a few articles-- but what kind of time is he facing?

it is florida-- they are GETTING BAD PRESS FOR SEX OFFENDER SENTENCES-- will they make an example of him?

this is truly unbelieveable that a guy-- as talented as he was working for such a reputable station and having made such a name for himself-- how could this happen?

It always seems to be the type we'd never think would be capable of such things. I mean, from what we're reading, they carried on very explicit conversations with him for over 6 months, set up the meet and he actually showed up and admitted why he was there. And, this is the only incident he actually got caught- does anybody think he just woke up one day last May and decided that, at nearly 50 years old, to become a sexual predator. In cases like this, there almost always ends up being a long trail of similar behavior (especially for a guy who's been in CHR radio for so long- he certainly isn't the first).

I'm not sure there's such a thing as "bad press for sex offenders". What happened is reprehensible and the toughest consequences are nearly always deserved.

The last time something like this happened to a high profile radio type the legal punishment was minimal. He was ordered to do community service and was on probation. The real punishment is that the story is all over the media and is the talk of the industry. It's almost impossible to get a job again.

I think what he means is that there have been a LOT of sex offender issues in Florida over the past year or so, and I've noticed a number of fairly high-profile child abuse/kidnapping cases coming out of that area over the past few years. Obviously, there are issues concerning that.

As for this situation, no idea as to how it's panning out. I know nothing about the guy, but it's just appalling that one could do something like this. He just threw not only his career, but his life, out the window.

come to think of it-- there was a guy at wpow in miami who was caught in an underage teenage boy sex scandal -- i cant remember the dudes name-- but he is doing ok now-- he is in l.a.--

i dont want to say the name i am thinking-- because it could be wrong-- but he was pd at power 96 / miami back in the early 90's and he is ok-- ( career wise )

if adam cook ends up having to do time-- even if he didnt actually have sex with a child-- he will have a hard time in prison-- sex offenders are the lowest on the prison totem pole.

There was also the case of the former morning guy named Joe Bob at WWKZ in Tupelo, MS back around '96 or '97. If I'm not mistaken, Inside Edition busted him...along with law enforcement. If I've heard correctly, the judge threw the book at him and he did hard time.
