Adam Copeland "steps down" as KNBR PD

I read some of the tweets shown on Barrett Sports Media. Wow...just wow. The guy probably should've been fired.

It befuddling how someone working in the business let alone management, still after all this time doesn't realize the consequences of posting stupid crap on social media.
Perhaps I encountered more than my share, but I saw lots of childish behavior of Copeland's sort when I worked in radio, fueled by a toxic combination of ego and insecurity. The smaller the market, the worse it was, but elements were present in the large markets, too. The difference was that, in those days, the trashy stuff was kept inside the building. Now it can spill out everywhere.

So let me get this straight. Copeland has worked his way up from intern to board-op to producer to co-host and (with no prior experience) major market P.D. His latest promotion was in November, just before Cumulus had a significant layoff, for which Copes largely took the rap. And now, barely six months later, his record of offensive social media posts comes to light, in time to either be (a) unhired as P.D., or (b) invited to walk the plank if he wants to keep the on-air "second banana" gig (dealer's choice).

Color me less-than-convinced that Mr. Copeland's social media history blindsided TPTB at Cumulus.

Adam Copeland is behaving just exactly the way I want a KNBR host to behave on social media, I'm a 30+ year listener who's still in the target demo (yes I started listening when I was 10) I've been hooked ever since I heard Pete Franklin "flushing" callers who had opinions he didn't agree with. Sports talk fills the gap left by "Hot Talk" when it is done best. Maybe he shouldn't be the PD, but the new PD should be trying to clone some more Copes.
