I am sure he is growing frustrated with the relative obscurity of being #1 PM Drive A25-54 book after book.

Not trying to inflame the masses but didn't The Hardline beat Russ in the last book 25-54?

Not trying to inflame the masses but didn't The Hardline
beat Russ in the last book 25-54?
>
Nope, The Hardline came out ahead in Men, but Russ always edges them in Adults. In the last 5 books Russ has a sweep of A25-54. It has been a tug of war with Men, Russ taking 3 and the Hardline 2 of the last 5.

Russ will continue to dominate the men numbers for the foreseeable future, at least until someone gets brave enough to program against him. The only real competition he has is The Hardline.
But, Russ may be his own worst enemy. It may just be my jaded ear, but lately he's sounded very bored, and very tired. Could he be getting fed up? Or is the pressure really beginning to mount? Being number one as consistently as he has, the brass begins to expect it every book. Performance anxiety starts to set in, and (according to everything that’s been said for years) Russ has always been a bit on the paranoid side.
But the strain is definitely beginning to show on-air.
If a really good show were to hit town now, specifically geared towards the same audience as the RMS, the added intensity might make for some really good radio. Or a breakdown.

Ive heard that as well in his voice. He sounds tired, letharghic even. He's talked pursuing other avenues of broadcasting (as with spittleville) or even go into business for himself (the whole resturant/bar/grill situation)

Slam, darling. Those are reality based radio bits. Spittleville is a movie project, not a tv show. Its an ongoing joke that provides a framework for conversation and conflict, not a venture outside of radio. RMS Rule #1, everything is a bit. RMS Rule #2, when you think it is not a bit, reference rule #1.
