Adam Levine Leaving ‘The Voice’

NEW YORK (AP) — Adam Levine is leaving NBC’s “The Voice” after 16 seasons.

Carson Daly made the announcement Friday morning on the “Today” show. Daly said Gwen Stefani will return for season 17 in Levine’s chair.

The Maroon 5 frontman wrote a length Instagram post Friday, saying the Emmy-winning show “went on to be a life shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever.”

The Maroon 5 Member has issued an announcement on his future on the Voice.

It's really tough to do these reality shows and keep your career in music. There's not enough time. That's why there's a revolving door.

I'm sure he got a wake up call doing the Super Bowl. He needs to tour again, and touring will take him away from the show. Blake tours for two months out of the year. That leaves him free to do the show for 10 months. He told an interviewer last week that he may not make albums any more. Just record singles. That's less time consuming. Kelly Clarkson is adding a 5 day a week talk show to her schedule starting in the fall, so this is likely her last season with the show.

Here is more

Adam Levine‘s disastrous, much-derided performance at the NBC Upfronts presentation on May 13 was foreshadowed the day prior on Universal’s Stage 12 — aka home of “The Voice.” The singing competition was pre-taping Season 16’s Semifinals on a Sunday vs. airing live on Monday because Levine and fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and John Legend were due at the aforementioned event in New York the next day.

By all accounts, Levine did not want to attend that Sunday taping. As one source tells TVLine, the Maroon 5 frontman expressed frustration beforehand at having to be present when, at that point, he had no artists left in the Season 16 race. And he did not hide his frustration. One eyewitness tells TVLine that Levine was “very difficult” during the entire taping, refusing opportunities to offer commentary to the other judges’ performers.

Although Idol improved in its 2018 ratings this year, and will return in 2020.
Honestly I haven't watched one second of the ABC version, and stopped watching the Fox broadcast years before it was cancelled. Maybe making the show more about talent and not a side show helped.
