Adam Webster from Oldies 98.9 doing news for the competition?

I meant to post this yesterday but didn't have a chance.

There is a "new" voice doing the hourly news updates (I suspect they are voicetracked) since late last week on WTAG-AM 580 during the Jordan Levy show. I have "new" in quotes because it sounds an awful lot like Adam Webster from Oldies 98.9 using a pseudonym. If you’re in the local area and familiar with Adam Webster, listen for yourself.

If it is Adam, I’m surprised that a Citadel group station would want their employees working in the same market for a competitor, Clear Channel owned WTAG.
 
Adam does live news updates for sister station 100FM The Pike at about 25ish past the hour and 5ish minutes before the hour until about 830am and 99.9 % of the time is interacting live with Bruce Palmer (or, this week, Frank Foley). And, fairly frequently, they talk to each other so long that Adam doesn't get to the news until right about the top of the hour. So he'd definitely be voicetracked if WTAG's hourly updates are slightly before the hour.

But I find it hard to believe he'd be working for a competitor.

For what it's worth, WTAG.com (under the Morning News link) states that morning guy Jim Polito is on vacation and producer/WTAG Tonight host Mike Messina is filling in. Maybe that's who you heard??

And, by the way, I THINK Adam still does taped news updates for 2nd sister station WXLO while XLO's Jen Carter does taped news for Adam's show on Oldies 98-9.

No it wasn't Mike Messina. Mike is filling in for Jim Polito in morning drive with Sherman Whitman doing the news.

The voice I am hearing was the hourly news updates during the Jordan Levy show in PM drive. It certainly wasn't Mike.

Sorry, I misread your initial post. I assumed you meant during the morning show. :-[

I listened at 5pm today, the 29th. The newsman sounded quite similar to Adam Webster, but it's definitely not Adam. I'm going to guess the news was voice tracked by a Clear Channel newsperson off-site from WTAG. His delivery just gave me
the sense that he is an "outsider" to the city just by the way he handled the local news. I wanted to hear his name at the end of the newscast, but there was some sort of glitch and his voice became garbled. At that point a different voice came on with traffic news so I never got to hear his name. But I agree with your point, Citadel would never allow Webster to VT on CC station.
