Adam West Must Need The Money...

I've been hearing his voice on radio spots for Lending Tree. At first, I wasn't sure; I recognize the tone of his voice from his appearances on "Family Guy" as "Mayor Adam West;" then, the other day, for the first time, I saw a television commercial, with Adam West appearing on-screen. I guess he has to supplement his "Batman" royalties somehow...
Why would you assume he "must need the money?"
Don't hate on Adam West for workin'! :)

Adam West no longer receives any royalties when they rerun a Batman episode. The contract terms for compensating television actors
were much less generous in the 1960's. I believe they stopped getting checks after the 3rd. or 4th. run of the show. This changed sometime after 1970, and actors who appeared in shows afterwards collect a check....no matter how small....every time the program runs someplace on the planet. (think Jerry Seinfeld and the Super Terrific Happy Hour).

I remember a Mike Douglas Show from the mid 1970's where Jim Backus was a guest, along with several cast members of Welcome Back Kotter.
Backus spent a good bit of time detailing these royalty changes, and how the cast of Kotter was going to make out financially far better than he
ever would from those gazillions of Gilligans Island reruns.

Robert Vaughn still does commercials for injury lawyers. He's really good. And David Leisure (Isuzu) is on some of those commercials as a sleazy businessman trying to get away with whatever he can. Also enjoyable.

In my area, Lewis & Daggett has split into two firms, but Lewis & Associates got custody of Robert Vaughn and David Leisure.

For a while, one of my students in my English class would work 'Adam West' into as many original sentences as possible. Thankfully, that didn't last long.

It's GREAT that Mr. West can finally get some decent work. "Batman" almost ruined his reputation as an actor.
No, "Danger Theatre" did that. Robert Vaughn was on that oo.
