"Mix 96" in Elizabeth City, NC. has flipped to "96.7 The Block, Non-Stop Hip Hop" Look out world, urban is making a comeback!

I'm glad more stations are flipping to Urban. Along with 96.7 The Block, stations in Little Rock (Streets 101.1) and Charleston (92-5 The Box), and Louisville (104.3 The Beat), have all flipped to urban within the last year. All of them are on the list to be affiliates for "The Rickey Smiley Morning Show". I wonder when they will start airing Rickey on their stations?

I hope this new station get market well because Clear Channel urban giant 103 Jamz ( WOWI Norfolk V.A. ) come in good in Elizabeth City N.C.

I liked KHTE not necesarrily because I knew someone workin there, but it was refreshing over sleepy Old school Joe in the AM... although folks knew once Archway sold it, the stations future was short. Once Sleepy Steve jumped on Hot and made it cold, that was the beginning of the end. It was a good market for a competitor. And Flinn while many folks talk about them, at least they dont follow alot of the rules and play their own rotation. Aint heard Streets, but like to. Are they webcasting yet?

I miss KHTE Hot 96.5, I have grown tired of KIPR Power 92. As far as Streets 101.1 goes, they are not webcasting yet, they don't even have a website. They've had this format for about 9 months now, and they still don't have any on-air personalities. I'm hoping all of this will change once Rickey is broadcasting during the mornings.

Flinn usually does not do syndicated mornings, which is great for the market. But hmm, no personalities yet?? Not good. Stations need to get staff after a month or so. Even when the format sucked like WFOX in ATL, they could have made a bigger dent in the urban ratings if they developed a staff and wasnt just a jukebox. It takes a little investment in you're product to get some benefit from it. Music is music, folks still liseten to radio for interaction. Or else IPODs would rule period and radio would shut down all music formats.

Don't know why but any station named "Streets" or "Streetz" Makes me think Pirate.

STREETZ is the perfect name for a nonstop hip-hop station. Awww, our short lived "STREETS 102.9" here in ATL.
