Add Planet Green to the list

This network has become just another outlet for Discovery Channels type programming. It bears little resemblance to what it was when it started with great fanfare.

True, but I find it a convenient way to watch programs I missed a few years ago when they were originally on one of the other Discovery channels. It seems now to be the dumping ground for programs they don't want to show on their other channels anymore.

I guess there is still some new product, but it doesn't seem to have much to do with their "green" theme. Either there wasn't enough audience for their original premise or enough programming, or both.

This is one channel I can't believe is still around. I've never seen anything on there remotely
interesting. Their target audience seems to be too small for a network. Why do people think
they can present a channel for something like Residents Of Indiana With Vacation Homes In
Florida, and think it will fly? Maybe Piers Morgan will take over this channel once his stint at
CNN is over.

Considering that most of the stuff is programming you would normally find on other Discovery channels, why not rename this channel "2LC", or "Disc2very"?

Discovery plans to revamp Planet Green...

I can picture the new name now: "PG". (And, why not, they're abbreviating all of the other cable network names...)

What will happen to the shows on "PG" that are "TV-G" and "TV-14"?

Logo is now airing non GBLT programming that aired on a sister Viacom channel years ago (Daria, Stranger with Candy)

I think those shows fall under the Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Nip-Tuck category as being popular among the gay community.

The channel that surprises me is RFD. Over ten years and it is still pretty much dancing with the ones what brought them. There was that brief dalliance with Don Imus but all in all it's still doing what it did when it started.

RFD-TV keeps their programming costs low, so they can afford to narrowcast.

However, I'm willing to take bets on when ESPN will finally pull the plug on ESPN Classic and replace it with "ESPN Radio on TV." ESPN Classic died when its only worthwhile show, "Cheap Seats," was cancelled.

ESPN Classic died when all the other RSN's and sports networks like NFL Network, NBA TV, MLB, etc. started airing "classic" games, basically as filler when there is no live sports coverage to air. I used to watch ESPN Classic when they would show some of the old Lakers-Celtics playoff games from the 80's, or some World Series games from the 70's and 80's, but now you can find those on other networks.

Let's not forget that Classic Sports Network died when ESPN Classic was born. Few of you may recall Classic Sports Network. That's the origin of that victorious icon in the ESPN Classic logo. In fact, the now-defunct WBIS-TV (a.k.a. "S+") in New York City aired a great deal of CSN programming, up until the station was sold by ITT and Dow Jones to Bud Paxson and became PAX/Ion.

In keeping with the thread theme, however, I'm waiting until ESPN Classic starts airing "Coach" reruns - or, worse, replays of that day's "PTI" and "Around The Horn" and labeling them "instant classics."

Im just waiting for the day ESPN adds non sports programming.
Considering ESPN stands for

Entertainment AND Sports Programming Network

Dancing with the stars on EPSN anyone? (we should get a barf emoticon)
