Add Speedy and Lil Cee to the KTU AX

WOW, they are trimming the fat in every possible way huh?. Worst thing in the world to be let go around the holidays.

They are cleaning house over there and it's really a shame. Others were let go as well. It's going to be interesting to see what goes on at this station over the next 12-18 months as I don't think that this version of "KTU" is the going to be the lasting one. I'm betting it's just a temporary thing before they go off into another non-niche housewife format. Time will tell.

I've posted this on my site but for the topic at hand regarding the cleaning house of 'KTU this seems appropriate.

Since April.......

Broadway Bill Lee (let go)
Baltazar (let go)
Jewelz (left)
Jeff Z. (left)
Vic Latino (leaving)
Charlie Burger (let go)
Speedy (let go)
Lil Cee (let go)

Which leaves Diane Prior and Goumba Johnny as the only two continuous staffers remaining at 'KTU since its inception.

According to All Access... Speedy is still with KTU, just was slashed to limited part time.

Well then again wasnt Speedy a morning show character/sidekick? as well as a promotions flunky? so technically he couldnt have been broomed when Balt got the door too. So he's been living on borrowed time.

Speedy was just a guy who should never have been on the air. The few times when he filled in for Judy Torres on THe KTU Freestyle Free For All he sounded totally awful. Thats why he was never more then a side kick that was just so annoying. For Dance music to survive we need reall on air personalities like Brooadway Bill Lee, Freddie Colon, Michelle Vissage, and Vic Latino.

you all know this chain reaction was caused by one person. Whoopie. This hag killed dance music and she doesn't even know it! If she just stayed put in Hollywood, this direction MIGHT of never happened.

The complaints about the classic direction of KTU go back years... this is nothing new, and nothing to do with Whoopi, its a model Clear Channel is using to try to obtain a specific demographic... unfortunately this is NYC and we shouldn't be programed on a model, we should be the originators!

I personally I liked the mix of classics and new that KTU had when it first started the no repeat work days... it was what I was calling Rhythmic Variety... it was part Rhythmic CHR and part Rhythmic AC... a lot of depth during the day and a bit younger and definately more aggressive at night. I wish they had stayed dayparted like that... it kept me from hearing the same shit over and over at work, then kept me going at night!
