Hey guys, are there any charts or a place to see what the new adds are for dance? I notice a lot of other formats have places to check out the "charts" or "adds" for the week. I am having a hard problem finding that with the dance format.

What do you believe is missing from this list? For me, it's a complete listing of the reporting & or biggest dance stations in America.

For me it's actually a complete listing of the reporting or biggest Dance stations from the rest of the world.
John, half the people on here are always crying about how inaccessible Dance music is these days, how there aren't enough Dance records with vocals.
A lot of the European Dance station webcasters (especially from East Europe) that I post do play loads of good crossover Dance records with vocals. Records that are on the same level as Cascada and DHT or higher.
People claim that they don't want to play a record from Europe unless it's done really big over there. Your company proves that it doesn't have to be that way. It was your label, Robbins, that made DHT big in America and then in Europe even though it's an act out of Belgium. My guess is that Cascada's current success here is also going to impact, or is impacting, the Pop charts in Europe.

With the exception of Jimi Lalumia and Midwestclubber few others here seem to take notice of the plethora of crossover Dance getting airplay abroad.

While your lists are always indeed incredible, I was answering the post about the FMQB chart which lists American based dance stations. For me there is nothing missing from that chart. They are a company that does their business based on American radio. Sure, there are a lot of other places to look for tracks but to see the big picture of what's happening at Dance Radio in America right now it's the FMQB chart and the Billboard Dance Radio chart. I, of course, check out as many mixshow playlists as I can get my hands on but for most people this isn't an option.

As for people arguing that there aren't a lot of dance songs with vocals, that's not true as there are a lot of them. But for me, 99% of them aren't for American radio for various reasons. If we felt they were, we'd sign them. :)

Yeah but I'm not talking about 99 percent of vox records, rather about the ones that do get played on international radio, which already weeds out a lot of the more mediocre vocal records out there. So of those Dance songs that do air in regular rotation abroad I'd say at least 50 percent could be good enough for American radio. That's a LOT of good records at any given time. It's not just good news for your label, but for other labels as well.

Some of the Dance stations in Greece are playing Lalumia tracks. Jimmy should tune into those sometimes.

You may be right about American radio. That's why I find myself listening more and more to overseas radio like BBC Radio 1 and all of the others. My tastes tend to run more towards the Euro product and my views tend to be more in line with European views anyway. I LOVE the Euro dance stuff (especially the Ministry of Sound and Clubland type releases). I'm much more into Eric Prydz, Meck, Sunblock, Hi-Tack, LMC, Shapeshifters, Freemasons, Mylo, Coburn, Uniting Nations, Disco Boys, etc., than I am the diva-ish house stuff that makes the dance charts hear in the U.S. I would take any of these cuts (the Euro progressive house or euro-pop trance) over the diva type U.S. stuff (Reina, Lucas Prata, Deborah Cox, etc.) anyday. I would give anything if the U.S. listeners would open up their minds a little and give some of these great Euro type records a chance. But you are probably right. The environment and mindset is just so different that they are not willing and are not going to be anytime soon. Personally, I'm loving all of the 2 1/2 minute "sampling" and "looping" type records that have hit the charts recently in Europe, but I can't see any of these being given a chance at U.S. radio, and I hate that.

That's why I've basically given up on U.S. radio (other than satellite). With Sirus, XM, the internet streaming stations, and of course IPOD's, I no longer have to be frustrated about the state of American radio and the American radio audience; I can simply choose not to listen and to get what I want somewhere else.

As you can see, this is a topic that frustrates me to no end. And I'm not blaming you or any of the record labels. You have to put out what will sell. It's the close-minded American audience that irritates me.

Totally understand where your coming from. That's also what the XM & Sirius are counting on to stay in business. It's not just with dance music, it's all genres. People that are hooked on any genre of music tend to dig deeper into what they want to hear, song and artistwise. Those people will probably never be served the way they want to be by FM as it has to play to the masses for billing purposes. That's why internet, sat. & iPods are great. More exposure for what you wish to hear.

Yeah, that was my point exactly. I know that your job of trying to market dance to mainstream CHR's here in the U.S. has to be difficult. The genre has so many strikes against it right now, and the people who are really into dance, often aren't interested in the pop stuff that has CHR crossover potential. But you are doing a great job of walking that line at Robbins. While, I would love to see more of the Euro tracks picked up for my own personal tastes, I think you are doing a good job of picking the ones that have the most appeal to the U.S. mass audience. I hope Robbins continues to have success and we finally see some more dance back on mainstream CHR. Even if it's stuff that is old to a lot of us, or "too pop", I'm all for any kind of dance breaking through to the mainstream.

Also, thanks to Robbins for giving us the compilation releases like "Best of Trance", "Best of House", "Best of Dance Hits" too. I've always liked that you put out this series that was NOT mixed. For those of us who like to buy a lot of tracks for downloading onto our IPOD's, these releases are great. The mixed CD's are ok, but annoying when you are seperating out the individual tracks for listening on an IPOD. I like the Trance Party, House Party series too, but I really prefer the "Best of" (non-mixed) series. I hope you continue these great compilations. Also, I'd like to compliment Robbins on choosing good mixes and the ones that are most mainstream accessible. Also the sound quality on the Robbin's releases is always good too. Ultra, on the other hand, often doesn't do as well in the above categories.
