Pretty sure Greater Media wouldn't be blowing up its FM talk station to make room for Top40 in the presidential election year where they stand to make tons of cash from campaign spots. Let's not be stupid.

Well, if they went Top 40 in 2013, then they wouldn't make money from campaign spots in 2016. And besides, how much do you think presidential candidates spend in a state where Obama is all but guaranteed to carry the Commonwealth? This isn't Ohio.

As for the pissing match in this thread, I thought the unwritten rule was that if you used a handle (which is certainly justifiable and expected for the purposes of job security), you didn't attack somebody who actually uses their real name. Guess not.

I'm not trying to attack Barry - just asking him to post his feelings about working for Brian Thomas. I know what they are because every time I talk to him he has something negative to say about him. Notice how he was quick to say nice things about Strassel, but nothing else. The way it is now, I guess it is if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

You should live by the last line in your final post; but as a hiding coward, I know you won't. You make me laugh.

Since you work for CBS, I wonder what your motive is for stirring up trouble. Anyone who knows me, is aware how passionate I am, not only about "The Lost 45s"--but the station I work for as well. I have only MET Brian Thomas twice. Both times, I found him to be just as passionate as I am. If we disagree on anything, it is because I want the station to be #1, just like he does. You want to bring down morale, create a problem where there is none and spew hatred. Who is the better employee, angry little man? I am just a weekend specialty show jock. He's a Programmer for CBS nationally. I know my place; it seems you don't.

Grow up already. Maybe you should get out of the business and give us all a break. I, for one, love my job. Guess you don't.

If the Republicans nominate Romney, Massachusetts will be in play. Moreover, there is also the Senate race between Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren, which will bring in lots of political dollars.

This state is going to have one of the most hotly contested Senate races in the country. Both Brown and Warren will be spending massive amounts of money. We will also have 3 maybe 4 contested Congressional races so there is going to be big political media spending in this market.

I am really happy to hear Greg Strassel wife comes to your bingo nights did she win a prize?

I also forgot to mention that there will be several referendum questions on the ballot that will have both sides of the issues buying significant media time.

Granted Federal Office candidates have to be sold spots at a rate that averages out to be the lowest spot rate that the station sold spots at during the preceding year, but even at those rates it is money that TKK and RKO will be happy to have.

If Greater Media is contemplating a format change it is conceivable that they would hold off after the elections.
