Adios Talk 1150 WTTT Hola Radio LUZ

whats going to happen to sean hannity? even though he didn't get good ratings here, this is still the tenth largest market in the country, and he badly needs an affiliate here. New talk station anybody? Maybe an Ingraham, O'reilly, Hannity, and Levin lineup. Sounds like a winner to me.

Boston Radio Watch said Salem was hoping the conservative talk would catch on but the ratings and $
weren't there. They quote a source saying in 2006 (2007 numbers aren't in yet) WTTT earned $200,000
while WROL made $1 million and WEZE, $2 million. 590 and 950 lease out time...and now 1150 is too.

Who knows who'll pick up Hannity...if WRKO or WTKK it would be tape delayed of course, and IS there a spot?

Salem has flipped Talk 1150 to a Spanish CCM format known as Radio Luz.

So are they going to run spanish-speaking PSAs on how illegal immigrants can get on the Massachusetts gravy train? Or how help is just around the corner if any of them are interested in voting in the Massachusetts primary one or two times?

Chris:

So how many Spanish speaking people in the region are illegal against the total number of people who speak Spanish?

Quote source, please.

Tired of the stereotype that just because you are Hispanic you must be illegal.

Do you know that they busted thousands of German illegals last year?

Now with WTTT going Espanol, what about Paul Harvey? I wonder if Paul Harvey might return to WBZ? Even though Paul is getting up there in years, I still get a kick out of his "News and Comment" series, and of course "THE Rest Of The Story"! If I were 'BZ, I'd grab Paul Harvey's shows, right now.

there have never been any Irish illegals in Boston, have there?

or radio programming that pandered to Irish culture/music/language/politics/community?

Of course there is some Irish music found on WROL and WNTN, IIRC; public radio has the Thistle and the Shamrock, and WTKK-2 is The Irish Channel.

Someone on savewrko.com notes that Bill Bennett is on WDIS 1170 out of Norfolk. I also see on their
site (http://www.wdisam.com ) that they have Brian (Kilmeade) and The Judge (Andrew Napolitano)
from FoxNewsRadio and Salem's Mike Gallagher.

I can't pick WDIS up in Beverly due to the WUMB // from Orleans on 1170. Daytimer.

I doubt you'd get them up there even without WFPB-AM Orleans (//WUMB) on the air. I can barely hear them in the Boston west suburbs, where WFPB-AM is not a factor away from the coast. You really have to be in the inland metro-south to hear WDIS.

WOW! I REALLY hope you aren't serious!! This is a rhetorical question, right? Please, tell me this is a totally tongue-in-cheek comment and nothing more will be said.

"Pandered"??? OK; WROL has Irish music on weekends. So, they "pander", right???

And WRKO PANDERS to conservatives.

I doubt that WBZ will retain Paul Harvey, after all they were the ones who originally let ABC programming go.

Didn't WBZ specifically opt out of Paul Harvey--not out of ABC in general? I think that was the case. The way I heard it, WBZ management decided that Harvey had become more expensive than WBZ could justify. ABC may then have decided to offer Harvey to Salem at rates that were consistent with the low ratings of Salem's conservative talk stations.

Though idologically driven, Salem must use a business model in which cost is a key. Prime example: If, as reported, WEZE billed only $2 million last year, I would still wager that a very large part of that $2 million fell straight to the bottom line. Brokered-time stations like WEZE and WROL do not have most of the expenses that stations with a more "typical" business model have. The independent program producers assume most of the costs that a "conventional" station would have to assume. If Salem broke out the financial performance of its individual properties (the company would, of course, be crazy to do so), I think you'd find that its stations' profits were comparable to those of "conventional" stations that bill at least four times as much. Although Salem is run by idologues, it is NOT run by people who lack financial savvy!

Chris, did you loose all your intelligence when you moved to NH?

I know you're a bright guy, I would expect this from some redneck, not you.....

Y Chris, no toda la gente que sea de habla hispana está aquí ilegal. Eso suena ignorante.
