Adlephia/Time Warner

When is the Adelphia/Time Warner sale gonna take place? I REALLY want VOD!!. Also do you think Time Warner will remove any current stations that Adelphia carries and Time Warner does not? (ESPN U, MTV Hits -If they remove this station I'm gonna be P.O.'d!) What else do you see coming out of this sale?

Even after the sale is complete, it's going to be a few years before Adelphia systems are rebuilt to TW specs. Adelphia has really let some of their cable plant go over the years - they were hardly tech innovators. VoD will require a two way system with neighborhood fiber nodes to handle traffic. That may require a significant rebuild - I don't know what Adelphia has in your area.

TW will likely leave your current lineup in place, at least until a rebuild is completed. They own a few tiny systems that were formerly Cablevision properties in the Finger Lakes which are still only offering around 36 channels. It wouldn't surprise me if a few very rural systems were still offering just 12 channels. TW usually leaves them alone until they do a rebuild.

From your list, I don't see anything there TW would object to carrying forward. They only very rarely delete a channel, and when they do it's usually a diginet on the digital tier.

Satellite companies have been trying to take advantage of the chaos at Adelphia, so you may find a lot of offers from DISH and DirecTV landing in your mailbox in the meantime.

Im sorry I know that this is the Upstate New York Board, but here it goes. Comcast cable here in the Dallas Metroplex is going to switch to Time Warner. What I am hoping doesn't happen is that one of the stupid Dallas stations doesn't decide to do the same thing KIII (ABC 3) out of Corpus Christi has done which says that Time Warner owes them money. It was on the Texas boards a few weeks back. They have been battling for ten years now off and on. My freinds who have Time Warner cable say that it is a good campany and are really impressed with them.<P ID="signature">______________
