ADOBE 3.0 audio issue

Having trouble getting the audio to work in 3.0.

I use an Echo Mia card to get audio in.

Audio out via Lexicon Alpha USB interface to powered speakers.

Works fine with 1.5. I can tell it in Device Properties which to use on Input and Output. Can't figure out how to do the same with 3.0. Anyone?

Trying to get Source Connect to work (what a pain, re: opening ports, etc). Port is open. Just need to be able to record/playback audio.

The way is to get a multichannel interface. ASIO is the standard and was one of the most requested changes. Users didn't realize how limited the ASIO spec can be.

I've looked at the ASIO spec and decided I can't afford it yet.
I run Breakaway Broadcast Processor on a laptop, and ASIO sure looks like it has advantages, but I can't justify them yet.

I guess this conversation is confusing me.

I have been through 3 or 4 computers since I became an Audition user. Normally I use an Audiophile 24/96 Maudio card. On one computer I kept the factory sound device in place and also had the 24/96 where I could switch back and forth. One computer had a factory sound device that would not allow the 24/96 to work. I thought the ASIO was involved in the sound card to Audition interface. What is it about ASIO that would not be affordable? Is there something to pay for besides the sound card that has ASIO?

Tell me what it is I don't understand about ASIO and I am overlooking.

Just a different driver setup, but in can cause extreme changes to your setup vs WDM/MME. Or, depending upon you hardware and workflow, you may never notice.

I'm just an old country boy. Can you give us a hint of what that means?

This thread is the perfect example. If you have been using two devices as part of your setup, you have no choice but to change your workflow or your hardware with ASIO. Don't get me wrong, ASIO has a lot of examples. You can read about exactly what ASIO is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Stream_Input/Output

Figured out with Jeff Laurence's help that I don't to need embed the Source Connect plugin into 3.0. I can download Source Dekstop, and in conjunction with Source Connect (need it and an ilok), use Source Dekstop instead of using AA3 as the interface. So no worries on my end... until I want to actually use AA3.0 for recording/playback. Have no need to b/c 1.5 works with my setup. However, I may get a Mackie Blackjack and just use that for I/O. We'll see. But my issue getting Source Connect to work has been solved, thankfully... that's a $650.00 plug in!
