Adobe Audition 1.5 Question

I'll probably get a smarter and certainly faster answer here than I have from Adobe thus far.

Any explaination as to why on a new sound file, the voice will suddenly go for normal speed to 2x speed in playback? I've changed nothing as I am recording and yet on play back the second half of the tape is sped up sometimes.

I've been using CEP 2.0 to this point and NEVER had the problem there.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks<P ID="signature">______________

I have heard of this, but I can't remember the problem. I suggest a trip over to audiomasters.org and posting your question there. A search of that forum may also turn up the answer.

Make sure you post info about your system, and more importantly, you sound card.

I'm not sure if you were able to find the answer to your question, but I've had the same problem with Audition and CEP. The reason this was happening to me was I had some other program open that was using the sound card at the same time as I was recording in Audition. This can be an email program sounding a "you have mail" notification or a website open that plays some audio tones intermittently. I solved my problem by turning off all sounds in my email program and just for added measure turned off all Windows sounds in Internet Explorer.

Hope this works.

As a solve-all measure (one that I use myself), any computer you're using for audio applications like this should have all system sounds turned off. This can be done easily through the Windows Control Panel. In your sound settings, by default, there is a profile called "No Sounds" (or something similar). Use that. It may not affect certain third-party programs (meaning you may have to turn off the sounds through that program itself), but it will cover the majority of them.

If you like having system sounds for regular use outside of audio editing, I'd suggest setting up a separate user profile within Windows for audio editing that has all system sounds turned off.
