Adobe Audition 3.0.1 and Win 7/64

Anyone moving to a new computer system in the next few months who uses AA3 will need to look into downloading and installing the Adobe Audition 3.0.1 Patch especially if the new system is running Windows 7 native 64bit. Also we have only found three external audio interfaces that have any drives that will work.

BEST - Focusrite Sapphire 6 USB is designed with and for Windows 7 32 and 64

GOOD - Roland/Edirol UA-25 has an updated driver onthe Roland site

MAYBE - E-MU 0404 USB has a Win 7 diver on their beta site.

Just an FYI

Anyone know anything more? source Connect does not have any 64 bit and Amy of the plug INS we love are also useless so far.

Hmmmm..progress huh?

I was looking at upgrading my system to WIN 7 64 bit. I still use AA 1.5. Like it better than 3.0.

Audio in is via Echo Mia PCI card. Audio out via Lexicon Alpha USB interface.

Can't you run 32bit programs on 64bit?

Interesting about Source Connect as I'm looking at getting the new version that does not require a DAW interface. Available in Feb I'm told.

I've had Win 7 64 bit for months now and haven't really had a minutes trouble..AA 3.0 works,..but I mainly use 1.5....I use Source connect's stand-alone VST ..I've only done 1 session on it in the past couple of months but it worked fine

Their stand alone VST does the trick. Wave Arts plug in series have a 64bit versions for most. Don't know about Waves though.

So Bob..3.0 DOES run on a 64 bit machine without hiccups? Good to know.

A little late to the party folks but right on topic...Adobe Audition 3.0 and running Windows 7 32 bit with an AMD processor and plenty of horsepower. I am using an m-audio delta 44 card and am getting static at random times on the recording which I only hear AFTER I record and playback, not at random points of the file but rather the full recording at random times...no rhyme, no reason. I've switched to an m-audio USB Fastrack pro and get random dropouts in the recording. So the question:

Is it an m-audio sound card problem (such as with drivers) or a Windows 7 issue? I haven't had these problems with XP or Vista but I need to figure this out...or buy a soundcard I KNOW will work.

On another note...anybody have problems with AUDITION crashing in Windows 7? Maybe it's just ME...

Murrvox..use an older Delta 44 driver and you will be problem free. If you "updated" the driver from the one on the original CD that came with it (your delta 44) you will get that "random static" like we lived with for over a year. Maddening when you get a good take..or a rather lengthy read, and you play back and have that static.

Now..I don't know how using an older diver will react with WIN 7, but if you are using a 32 bit system it should not be an issue. You can go to the M-Audio site and download older versions of Delta drivers..or I can load one for you on my server.

Also while using Win 7 you may do well to download and install the Adobe audition 3.0.1 patch. If you do this..BEFORE you do anything..open AA 3.0 and in effects pulldown choose DISABLE DIRECT X..(it will refresh your effects)...then download and install the patch after closing AA3..when done open AA3 and reverse the process ENABLE DIRECT X..let it refresh and you will be updated.

If you don't do it like that you will LOSE all of any user presets you might have saved...trust me i lost a boatload of them.

Thanks for the heads-up on drivers, Jeff.

I have the Audiophile 2496 and it had become unuseable in recording at 32 bit or at 88.2 and 96k.

I downloaded the only other "old" driver they show on the website and it is much, much better, but still does not do 96k. (It used to several years ago.) Until I read you post I just assumed my card was getting old and dried up (kind of like me ;D ) but maybe the driver is the answer.

Anyone have an older driver?

The current (new) driver on their website is Delta_6_0_2_5_10_0_5074.exe

The older driver which you find if you select WINXP Service pack 2 (instead of 3)
is Delta_WDM_5_10_00_5057v3.exe

I guess my next step is to dig my previous computer out of the attic and see if there is a hard drive still in there and what driver is on it.

Anyone have additional info on this noise and static problem? Anyone have another driver I might want to try?

I dug through my pack-rat collection of computer stuff today and found the CD that came with my Audiophile 2496. The drivers on there are vintage 2003!

Uninstalled the card. Scraped out all the M-audio files I could locate. Put the card in. Loaded the 2003 driver files.

WoooHooooo! I can once again operate at 96K, 32bit. (With a scrawny voice like mine, why would I need to do that?) I hear some little transient thumps on playback but could not see them in spectral view. Converted the file to 44.1 and there were no thumps. I suspect 96/32 is a bit more than my machine wants to process in playback.

Again, thanks for leaving the breadcrumbs along the trail Jeff.
