Ads on RDS/data display

I noticed that 104.9 and 106.5 are running ads on the datastream, which I find very annoying, as I like to see the name of the song. Anyone have any idea how much money the sponsors pay to get on the datastream display? I have seen Lowes and Dockers so far, so these are major corporations advertising on the RDS stream. Are they doing this across Univision stations or just here in Houston? Are there other stations with this kind of advertising.

Are you sure that they're just not streaming the title of the commercial when it plays and your radio isn't updating the display? I've noticed that GM radios don't always pick up the changes.

I don'[t think that is what happens because I change the station and get different display then go back and see the same thing on 104.9 or 106.5 and sometimes is says things like "Lowes presenta" making me think that is is showing they are sponsoring the show.

Lately 104.9 shows "Mirate bien en Dockers"

Yes they say TRANSLATED IN ENGLISH

PRESENTED BY LOWES

Even if its a quick glance at the radio, it is a visual recall for the sponsors name. More than likely, we will see more of this quick glance marketing. I think its okay. Whether or not these type of ads or billboards effectiveness is certainly debatable.

I disagree. The RDS ads distract from my focus on text messaging.
