Ads on streaming services on different shows?

I've always wondered, do ads you see on places like Hulu placed on every show, or do they buy spots on particular ones. I've noticed some of the same ads, but watch several relatively similar shows on there.
 
Most ad buys are not based on show but just blanket purchases. They might be based on your age bracket.

You might be getting targeted ads.
