Looks like Kicks 99 is back. Nice come back. Bull is down. Can't wait to see the full break down. I'm sure the bull is shocked that they didn't gain all the listeners from when the big dog went away. but then again you can not cout out Kicks 99, they are the leader in the market, has been for years and will be for many to come. Congrats to the Beasley bunch, GAC is up and moving forward, the Classic Hits station, the drive seems very strong, the eagle too a big hit.
...when is somebody gonna wise up and sign on a CHR in that market?
Hard to fathom, but Augusta doesn't get to hear these artists' pop songs on a local signal...
Pussycat Dolls
Beyonce
Chris Brown
Kelly Clarkson
Mariah Carey
All-American Rejects
Nickelback
Ne-Yo
Fall Out Boy
Rihanna
Natasha Bedingfield
Black Eyed Peas
Relient K
Gwen Stefani
Sean Paul
Green Day
Ashlee Simpson
Lifehouse
Madonna
The format that tends to grab more Grammy Awards... Billboard Music Awards... a large chunk of the American Music Awards... and Augusta watches these shows with no clue who some of these artists even are.
Augusta was a market once DOMINATED by then-CHR WBBQ... that once later boasted a strong CHR 12+ and 18-34 powerhouse at WZNY... and now has no CHR, period.
Augusta's the second-largest market in Georgia, and pop music fans are left to strain to try and pick up a CHR signal from other markets.
Who does the FOX TV affiliate spend their advertising dollars on, radio-wise? What does the average non-country music-loving mom with kids listen to? What about the thousands of military personnel stationed there? The college students?
There's too much short-sightedness going on in this market. A diverse, ever-growing metropolitan area like Augusta needs a MAINSTREAM POP/TOP 40 radio station. The powers-that-be there are INVITING people to subscribe to XM or Sirius.
So while ya'll duke it out for country supremacy (I thought the Telecom Act was supposed to PROMOTE diversity on the airwaves), how many listeners have you lost for good to satellite radio?
