Reportedly, FMeXtra does nothing to improve multipath interference. Its advantage, used in tandem with HD, seems to be increasing frequency response in areas where the HD signal isn't strong enough to decode. Do we really want better frequency response accompanied by multipath interference?

I agree. FMeXtra is not an answer by itself. I'd propose diversity antennas as a way to reduce multipath. It is a proven, mature technology that really works, and doesn't add a lot of cost.
