Adventures of Superman-Second Season DVD

Just bought it the other day to go with my season one DVD and I noticed something peculiar. Is it me or was George Reeves’ hair prematurely gray?

The reason I’m asking is that on the last two episodes in season two I noticed where Reeves’ hair was much lighter compared to the stock footage from former episodes where his hair was almost jet black. Reeves was in his late 30s when Seasons 1 & 2 were filmed in 1951 and 1953. So its kind of hard to believe that he was going gray at such a young age.

I do know that when the show started filming in color, which to me were the worst episodes of the entire series, that Reeves hairline started to recede while it appears he was getting out of shape. And the guy wasn’t that old when he died at age 45 in 1959.

I'm inclined to believe Reeves was prematurely gray; I know
his weight tended to fluctuate between about 185 and 215, and
that a lot of padding was used to make him appear more muscular.
In his younger days Reeves was a good athlete--a high-school
wrestler and Golden Gloves boxer. But he was also a party animal
when he wasn't working, and I don't know how much weight he gained
from his drinking.

Also, don't forget that Reeves did not die of natural causes;
he either committed suicide or was murdered.

Had Reeves lived, he would have celebrated his 92nd birthday this year.
Ironic isn't it that the role he despised made him so famous. One has to wonder what career Reeves would have enjoyed had he lived? I'm sure he would have found work, especially with the nostalgia cycle that occurs from time to time.

With the last four seasons of "Superman" having only thirteen episodes each, I would think seasons three and four will be released together, with the last two seasons (five and six) likewise being released together, so there would be four "Adventures Of Superman" DVD sets, each with 26 episodes.

There's a feature film based on Reeves' life and death coming out this year.<P ID="signature">______________

Why do you make such silly speculations?
