Advertising Campaigns for New Radio Stations

It has been shown before that word of mouth is the best way to advertise a new radio station. The best example of that was in 1983 when Z-100 went from worst to first. I saw a full page ad on the cover of AM New York for WRXP today. It is very possible that listeners will find the new 101.9 by accident by just going up and down the dial. Very few people will go down to 87.7 FM unless they know something is down there. Thus, that station will have to begin an aggressive marketing campaign. I guess they should hire Tony Santiago as a consultant :)

Hand out flyers outside nightclubs or on the street
Full page ads in the New York Post
Send out a press release for "free" advertising
Blast Pulse in the subway stations (recorded of course, since you get no radio reception in the subway)
Make appearances in popular nightclubs
Send reps to area colleges

The best thing to do right now...START STREAMING!!!

There are a lot of people who would be willing to promote the station for free!

Somehow they have to get this station to have some power and a STEREO signal
I told a few people about the Pulse and they like it but their gripes were "the signal is poor".
