Advertsing No-No on The Sports Animal

When I was in radio, you never, ever put similar businesses spots back to back or even in the same break. Seems like they forget who pays the bills.

Advertisers were usually promised "protection". Each catagory would be coded and when the logs were generated two similar businesses would not be clustered together. Vividly remember irate advertisers yelling about being close to a competitor. Maybe rules have changed. Maybe one was network and one local. Not sure about the situation you speak of. Cable seems to have no protection criteria. Protection is another area that separates radio from other forms of advertising.

Wow. I bet the original poster never saw a commercial break on one of the major broadcast channels in early evening in prime time. Particularly in the interval right before prime time begins, I notice that there are more car dealer commercials.

..and that philosophy was one of the selling points behind advertising on radio vs television. You get protection.

Sileo is lucky ANY one is advertising on his show...

Well, I guess if my commercial was better than my competitors playing right before/after mine, I wouldn't mind. Now, if my commercial sucked, then I might moan. ;D
