Advice needed on a PR&E ABX-26 console donated to us

Hi,

The internet radio station that I co-manage (as a volunteer) received a PR&E ABX-26 console as a donation. As far as we know it is 100% functional as it was being used in another setup by a marketing company before being donated to us. We also received a large box with additional channel strips, meters, various modules etc. We have two power supplies and a lot of cables w/molex connectors, and the manual.

We were planning on putting it into service but we are now moving to a nicer but smaller space and it is just too big for our space and overkill for our needs. So we are wondering:

- Should we try to sell the whole kit and kaboodle on eBay? We are in Asheville, NC and shipping I am sure would be rather pricey.

- Should we try to sell the parts and just send the frame to a metal recycler?

I know that this is a very high-quality board that was used in both production and broadcast applications and I dislike the idea of dismantling if someone would want it for a studio. But, we need the money to put towards a board that will fit our space (like an AudioArts AIR 3) and we don't have space to store this board and all the parts.

I contacted Mr. Moore at Mooretronix but he did not sound interested in this console.

If you have interest in this board please contact me at [email protected]. We'd be happy to get $1200-1500 for all of it.

Thanks,
Sean

I'd see if Lightner Electronics wanted to buy it and the parts. They refurbish these. And they can also downsize one to fewer inputs if you would still love to use this.

PR&E ABX-26 parts for sale on eBay soon

All,

A member here contacted me about a trade but I have not heard back from him. And we have to move out of our current space and lugging this board intact is not an option. Thus, another volunteer and I spent the day removing meters, channel strips, and modules from the chassis, and matching up parts with an additional box of spare parts we received. Please note that as of 2011 this was being used by a multimedia marketing company and was given to us as a working console but we never powered up this unit since we just could not fit it in our studio space According to the back of the frame this was unit #008 and it appears that all faders are Penny and Giles and meters are Sifam. It is our understanding from talking to other broadcast folks that some of these modules are pretty valuable these days but for a fair offer we'd love to sell all of this at once and put that money towards another board.

If you are interested in purchasing any of all of the parts prior to us listing on eBay please let me know. We are in Asheville, NC. I'll post some pictures soon and add a link. As of right now we still have the frame but it is slated to head to the metal recycler unless someone wants to buy it. Here is the list:
