Well, after my second show on the air here, things are beginning to look up. 8)
Last week I had no callers, this week, I got 3 calls, 2 of which I was able to answer for requests, and one of the two wasn't even solicited.
Even though I wasn't pleased with my show yesterday, the Air Force NCOIC gave me praise over it two days in a row. So that's pretty good, I guess. I expressed that I didn't feel I did that well with many small technical glitches and less-than-perfect on-air reads, to which I finally got him to concede that there was room for improvement. (Is that weird, me trying to talk the boss out of giving me praise?)
I did get to interview a band that played here last night. It was a surprise visit, so I "prepared" a hasty interview, coached by my direct line supervisor there. I guess we got some good info out of it, and it was my first time ever for interviewing a band, even though it was a relative no-name band, they were pretty good and the station got a free CD out of the deal, autographed. The station said I could keep it, but I left it at the studio in case anyone else wanted to burn a copy or something.
I recorded the first 2 hours of the show, which included my personally custom-made intro (which I change each week), and a bit that references life-in-theater. It's in MP3 format, compressed to "FM Air" standards which takes up about 50MB. If anyone would like a copy, just shoot me a message.
