AFR now in baton rouge

the AFR inspo network is now in baton rouge (plaquimine) on 88.1. the station comes in clear all the way to my house in french settlement. the format is inspo so its not much competition for klove. but the people who like the teaching prrograms without the WOF stuff will be happy. ;D

Ummm, "WOF stuff"? Que?

For even more techno-arcania, this is the area's first (FM) signal that is only vertically-polarized. Has to do with protecting the coverage of Channel 6 's aural carrier. AFAIK there hasn't been a non circular-polarized FM around since... I dunno, perhaps KHOM's old Gray tower?

In any case, it stops scan here in South Baton Rouge.

PTL : Praise the Lord & Pass the Loot

I would bet there have been horiz only stations in La....but vertical only is common in the noncomm band near a TV 6.

Already heard the first hole punched in their signal by someone with an 88.1 Mhz XM adapter.

me too. but i heard sirius and xm over it. and possibly an ipod or two. 88.1 is the default on most fm transmitters i believe. sure seems like it. or 90.1

Wait until they start applying or buy CPs for translators..in the Beaumont market, AFR put a C2 on 90.5 west of Beaumont (KZFT) but its city grade signal covers the entire area easily...THEN they bought a CP from KHCB and also got another one for translators...which are well within the city grade of the main station....WHY?? Money talks....

Like I said, wait for a while...they will put on translators soon enough.
