After almost 15 years in this market...

I met Bobby Langham at the rodeo today!

I wanted a picture with him just as bad as he wanted one with me.

For you Facebook folks (and no, I haven't yet, but I'm gonna) Leslie T. Travis posted the pic on her page-it was the first one shot from my new Blackberry Storm, which is almost as cool as meeting Bobby.

Hey, so what are you listening to on the Blackberry Storm?

Not a damn thing. I am exclusive to am/fm now.

I figure the job I save may be my own.

I do love how the storm will allow you to take MP3's and turn them into ringtones. Me and my wife have some really cool/custon made one's, and I have a feeling that I will be having a few 'custom cuts' sung failry soon for my wife.

Sure, they will be the most expensive ones out there, but she is worth it! :)

You bring up a great topic, but I wonder if the opposite might be true. I get the feeling that, unless terrestrial radio manages to prove pretty quickly that it's still driving record sales, the legislation will change and performance royalties will drive music radio operating budgets even further toward the cliff.

Jacobs Media has a site which they've published on behalf of all terrestrial companies; they asked radio stations to send photos of their gold and platinums, which, of course, are awarded by record labels for driving music sales. It's an effort to defend against the musicFIRST's performance royalty push. You can find it at:

The iTune you save may be your own?

Back to your original post.. Bobby's really a nice man....much older than I had him pictured. I met him several years ago at his Father's funeral.. His whole family was very appreciative that one of his "radio heroes" came to the visitation.

Bobby's not only a nice guy, but he's a walking encyclopedia when it comes to information about Houston Radio. I treasure his letters, and I truly don't feel like I've been hired someplace until I get one from him. I even got a Bobby Langham Letter when I worked in Grand Rapids and at XM.

I think he deserves an invitation to the next Radio Reunion. I would suggest we invite Karen Reagan too, but she's wheelchair bound and it might be too much for her to handle. I could be wrong, and if I am, invite her too! Oh, and I also like the Tin Hall for the venue, but I vote for early Spring 2010. Just my two cents.

If she's unable to make it, it would be a nice thing to video everybody saying hello to her from the reunion. It wouldn't take much effort, and I'll bet she'd really treasure it forever.
