After what season did Simpsons stop being good?

I think after Season 16, it turned into "Zombie" Simpons, with producer Al Jean trying to make the show overly generic to make up for the Scully years, which took heat from internet fans. Your thoughts?

I don't remember what year I stopped watching the new episodes on Sunday Nights. Sometimes if there is nothing else on TV I will watch an episode or two on FXX. I remember not to long ago telling a 21 year old co-worker about an episode and he was like I don't remember seeing that one. When I got home I looked it up and saw him at work the next day I was like "You don't remember that Simpsons episode because it originally aired 3 years before you were born! You'll might be able to catch it if it comes up in rotation on FXX."

Is FXX really showing every Simpsons episode ever? It seems to me I've seen a few of them more than once on FXX and some older ones I don't remember them airing.

Not only are they airing every episode ever, you can even watch them all from www.simpsonsworld.com as long as you can authenticate with your cable company. Even the episode from last week is up there right now.

Back on the original topic, I still enjoy The Simpsons today. It is definitely a different show than the early seasons, but I think if we did go back to those early seasons, they wouldn't do well today (as every show continues to push the boundaries, early Simpsons episodes are down right tame by today's standards). I can definitely see why people complain, but IMO they are still one of the better shows on TV today, and have held up much better than other "long time" shows currently on TV like Big Bang Theory or Modern Family (or even Family Guy).

I think people just get tired of shows - especially one like The Simpsons, which has aired for so many years. I stopped watching it regularly about a decade ago. But anytime I do watch a new episode, I am still highly entertained, so IMO - the show has not 'jumped the shark.'

My problem is that I have tired of the TV sitcom genre in general. As great as 30 Rock was, for example, I rarely got around to watching it. There are just too many great basic and premium cable series (mostly dramas) to watch these days, and just so many hours in the day. It's a great 'problem' to have.

I thought the Simpsons had a period of doldrums in the late 2000s. The episodes I've watched from the last 3 or 4 seasons have usually been funny, with a few exceptions. I'd say they're more reliably funny than anything else I've seen this season on broadcast TV.

IMHO 14 last really good season
