After you've been fired. Then what?

With the recent firings of big market jocks like Chris McCoy and Bill Buchner in NYC (among many others) I thought it might be a good time revive a topic I posted once before. What career ideas do you have for those who can't relocate for another on-air radio job? This is especially tough if you have held a high profile position (like mornings). Have you gone in another direction inside or outside of radio? What have you done since you made "the break"? After 20 years I have found myself in this position.

Develop a career in voice-overs while you still have your radio gig. Then you have connections and income when the gig ends.

Having an education and other career options is also vital in today's corporate radio environment. Skills in marketing (that's what radio is all about, anyway) could offer you potential in agency work. Otherwise, your only options are relocating and/or smaller station work.
