Afternoon "Zoos"

Huge stations such as WSKQ, KLAX and KSCA appear to have dropped regular PM drive music shows in favor of talk shows featuring a cast of characters similar to morning zoos. I think this is a good idea. It gives listeners something compelling to listen to on the way home from work. It can complement the morning show. It also gives listeners a reason to turn off their Ipods and CD players and turn on the radio again. I wonder if this concept will spread to English language radio.

The concept started over a decade ago at cadena Salsoul in Puerto Rico, where we put 5 "morning shows" on from 6 AM to Midnight. The result was having the only double digit shares in a market with over 120 stations.
