AFTERNOONS AT MAGIC

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this, but Stacie Bartro is no longer doing afternoons at Magic 98.9, but is still on weekends. Action Jackson is now on from 12pm to 7pm.

Magic was playing some really good Tunes over the last week or two. I tuned in here and there and was pleasantly surprised by what they played. They are no substitute for 98.7 ''Simon'' from the Triad but it was definitely a welcome break from the local Charlotte, N.C. Radio Stations manage to churn out. Steve.

Before I get into anything funny, let me first ask what Boob Programmer allowed that 12-year old do Afternoons on MY 102? Sheeeesh!
As for MAGIC, Air Talent is really not their main problem. Greg McKinney does not need any instruction. They foolishly allowed Lee Alexander to leave, and he landed on "The Earth"! Both Bartro & Jackson just need coaching. She's too damn Churpy, with every break drowning in Happy-Ass syndrum. Action Jackson is still stuck in weekend mode, yet slated now Monday-Friday. As I've said, in many earlier rants, their Programmers subscribe to the Consultant/Label Lie:
A Short, Shallow, Allegedly Auditorium Tested, Consultant Approved, Playlist,...and Loooooooky where that has gotten them. Probably, by now, they are curious as why EARTH in on the air, executing what I had said would fix their pre-set button punch-out problem. I couldn't care less about the credit,...just better radio, and not the same "Burnt" songs, over & over!! The correct adds to the playlist would be a good place to start, then whitling down those 5-6 minute stop-sets would be a good move , as well.

what? kenny chesnee lol check it out on magics homepage http://www.magic989online.com/

Sort of like X98.5 last week had a remote at Edwin McCain's concert. Don't play his music, but hell, let's get some publicity out of it.

funnier that they spelled his name like the town in sc and not chesney like it really is. if you don't play an artist but giveaway tickets you should at least spell their name right

I remember the attempt at crossing Buffett over to Country. Oh, they did everything under the sun, Country by association, Country by duet, Country by residence, Country by hosting...and yes, they continue to press the clay for Country's little balding weenie to be Pop. He and Michael Jackson both struggled with preception issues, yet they differ; one runs from tanning beds, and the other lives in one. They even paired skinny Kenny with Grace Potter, and that duet still didn't bury the bones. To me, Greenville's own Edwin McCain should always be treated with Top Shelf Respect. Maybe Chesney/Chesnee can duet with the Bieber...that might get him on CHR!

they fixed the spelling. glad we could help

LOL.

I'm guessing Entercom got those tickets somehow and thought Magic was the best station to give them away on? My understanding is AC and country share a lot of female audience, and Kenny Chesney is popular with females, so perhaps that's the reasoning.

Magic got new jingles and imaging late last year. I have to say that it's done a good job freshening the station up overall in the past 6 months, it sounded the same for way too long. Their jingles are slick.

as an overall station just to plug into, they have a good sound, best of new and best of yesteryear,,

when earth goes beyond its flat surface ill listen to it quite a bit
