The reference to Boortz's AFTRA card sparked the memories I have of the 13-day 1967 strike. Can still remember the promo WABC produced claiming it had "the most star-studded pciket line in the country" while in the BG they ran a montage of songs like WALK LIKE A MAN, I'M WALKING, WALKING TO NEW ORLEANS, WALKING IN THE RAIN, and SLEEP WALK. I know this is a radio board, but -- who can forget Arnold Zenker unsuccessfully trying to light his pipe at the end of the CBS EVENING NEWS like Uncle Walter and burning himself with the match?
Wonder if we'll ever reach a point where SAG/AFTRA will strike again? Would be interesting to see who among the august broadcast journalist would cross the picket lines?
