Yeah, it does. And I'm keeping a log.

A Yule Log?

P.S. I need Thanksgiving off... You can go ahead and do your turkey drop

The original turkey drop actually happened in Houston, and that was the basis for the story advisor to "WKRP in Cincinnati" to suggest an episode about the incident. It took place at KENR-1070 back when Jay Blackburn was PD and some folks in the promotion and sales staff assuming that since wild turkeys can fly, farm raised ones could also glide in to a landing. In reality, the first turkey burst through the roof of a car, and the second collapsed a store awning, at which point they stopped shoving turkeys out of the plane. (As told to me by Jay)

The turkey drop never happened in Houston. It supposedly happened in Dallas and then was copied in Atlanta and one of the guys at the station eventually worked on WKRP as a writer and came up with the episode

If He keeps the sun glasses on and the trench closed he was a PI spying on Joe, if he opened the trench coat he is a flasher and all bets are off.

The turkey drop episode came from Jerrry Blum, the manager of WQXI, who has been written up as the inspiration for Art Carlson's bumbling, bungling management of WKRP. Actually, Mr. Blum was one of the sharpest managers in the business and he was hired as a story consultant for the TV series; he dug up little radio incidents he know about or which friends would tell him about and many if not most of the shows were inspired by his suggestions.

While there are a number of internet articles about the drop being done in Atlanta and other places, but they are wrong. It really happened at KENR. I saw Jay's photos of the event.

This is my favorite thread on these boards of all time, or at least a very close second to the Lamptimer thread from Phoenix.

You know you're in radio when you schedule time on your vacation to have lunch on the banks of the Arizona Canal and bask in the scratchy RF glory that is Lumberyard 1440.

The Q Zoo in the morning, the Q Zoo in the morning, the Q Zoo in the morning, in the morning, in the morning, on K-K-B-Q.

87-9 is back, and it's October 12th, 1982 in Houston, Texas today.

Argggg! The engineers have brought the JoeFM white space device (87.85 MHz) back to life. Crippled. Less power. But not dead, mates! There's an old myth that lightning never strikes twice in the same place. Lets hope its true! Now, all y'all bilge rats get back to work.

Joe, you have previously been warned by Frank to cease promoting radio piracy on radiodiscussions. Legal action has the potential to shut the website down, thus denying the broadcast community of a valuable resource. Is that your goal?

Well, he's certainly thumbing his nose at you.

Cox Radio, too. All morning it's been John Lander & the Q Morning Zoo clips interspersed with 80's and early 90's top 40. The agreement he once had to not use the calls has apparently been thrown out the window. Several jingles airing with the KKBQ call intact, even had an old John Lander voiced ID run outside of the TOH. Currently full simulcast with KZHO-LD 38.9. Signal strong and unwavering at my QSL, audio sounds markedly improved, as well. Apparently dead set on 87.90 now, as it's audible from 87.75 clear up to 88.00, and clear as a bell on 87-9. From here, it's causing KFTG no issues operating next door. Interestingly enough, Radio Aleluya on 88-1 is blasting into my receiver too, leading me to think Roberto is cranking out more juice than normal, on either KFTG or K201EU, as a result.

This subject will stop, just like a car that's run out of gas. given time and no more gas.
