Interesting...reminds me of the original "Annanova" newsreader/presenter.
But, why is this on the NNE board and not on "Coast-to-Coast" or maybe "Programming" even?

Probably True Grit was giving our board a heads-up on what's going on in the industry. That trend could work it's way here. Any info like that is valuable industry-wide. Certainly appropriate for NNE.

I only lurk/post to the NNE link.

I would like to say you are all entitled to your opinion. I was contacted by a film company who wanted to have Denise apart of an upcoming documentary about radio called Radio Wars.

Here is the trailer for the film that Denise and myself are now apart of…

Here is Denise… (This video is pretty good)

(Keep in mind I had to slow the speed of her voice. Not everyone is a fast listener)

Here is more information about Denise's role in film and even videos from a hater or two who disapprove of the concept.

Are we supposed to be impressed with this? It sounds like what it is--artificial. And just a quick question--if it's a radio DJ, why is there a computer designed photo?

My favorite point in the article is when the writer says, and I quote: "After getting to know Mr. Calvert a little more I could tell he is a visionary, like myself."

First sign someone isn't a visionary? When they start calling themselves one.

In radio, we already use artificial intelligence. It's called Music Master, or Natural Music Log, etc. And it wouldn't take a genius (cough, let alone a visionary) to design something like what is described existing technologies. Indeed, I was pulling off the same (as a joke) in college. I am not visionary. This is a joke. And by the way, I think back in 2004, while working full time in radio - I did work for $200 a year, 24/7, with no sick time. At least it sure felt that way. And unlike a robot voice - I actually ate at the local restaurants, enjoyed the local music scene, visited the local parks.

There's nothing visionary about a robot telling you about music. It's just another reason why a listener would turn off the radio and turn on Pandora.
