My favorite point in the article is when the writer says, and I quote: "After getting to know Mr. Calvert a little more I could tell he is a visionary, like myself."
First sign someone isn't a visionary? When they start calling themselves one.
In radio, we already use artificial intelligence. It's called Music Master, or Natural Music Log, etc. And it wouldn't take a genius (cough, let alone a visionary) to design something like what is described existing technologies. Indeed, I was pulling off the same (as a joke) in college. I am not visionary. This is a joke. And by the way, I think back in 2004, while working full time in radio - I did work for $200 a year, 24/7, with no sick time. At least it sure felt that way. And unlike a robot voice - I actually ate at the local restaurants, enjoyed the local music scene, visited the local parks.
There's nothing visionary about a robot telling you about music. It's just another reason why a listener would turn off the radio and turn on Pandora.
