Lets see.Been on the air almost 4 months.PD there almost 2 months.
And the best they can do is the tired ol' "listen for your name and win $97" crap ?
Over.done.history.never happened.

WOW, is that comment coming from a Clear Channel or Bonneville perspective? Which company has more to lose with a great sounding MOVIN station?

Also, the PD is in for just over a month and job listings running all January, and nobody on air yet? Geez you've really bought into that WALL STREET MENTALITY of THIS HAS TO HAPPEN NOW! Give the Burns Boys and and a young radio company some time to get it right. This ain't no short term thing.

But what they do need to get moving on is getting the correct, adult sounding jocks lined up to help the station evolve into a great HOT AC, which is what it is. Liner readers not gonna work. Audience interaction like their promos will make is sound a lot better. BUT, can we all agree that we're glad they didn't just throw "real" people on the air who sound more like high school screamers and holla holla types. And please none of them or old school pukers.

Lets give them a couple more weeks, the spring book starts in a month.

"WOW, is that comment coming from a Clear Channel or Bonneville perspective?"

No.

"WALL STREET MENTALITY of THIS HAS TO HAPPEN NOW!"

No. Problem is nothing has happened.

"Give the Burns Boys and and a young radio company some time to get it right."

Burns Boys have been in consulting biz for over 15 years.

"Young company" owner ain't no spring chicken and has owned plenty of properties before and was VP/GM of ABC Chicagofor years.

The domain was registered in SEPTEMBER !

Took them 3 months to hire THIS PD bozo ? With the "Burns Boys" consulting connections ?

"Lets give them a couple more weeks, the spring book starts in a month."

Glad you don't program MY station.

I'll say it again, quoting myself:

"....the best they can do is the tired ol' "listen for your name and win $97" crap ?"

I love that argument, "go buy a station yourself". The person clearly has a criticism of a station that could stand tremendous improvement and all you come back at him with is "if you don't like it buy a radio station and do it better". He doesn't have to buy a radio station to do it better, because every other station in the market is doing it better than 'Movin'.

Let's be honest, they have a signal that maybe covers half of the city--you have to be listening in a car or have a pretty sensitive antenna to hear it and the format doesn't exactly light up the arbitrons in other cities.

Now, to be fair, it's not a doomed ship by any means, but unless some fairly dramatic things are accomplished, the station will be yet another tombstone in the radio graveyard of Phoenix--right next to Sunny 97--or maybe Young Buck Country.

I'd say it's the "Radio Station Launching 101" mentality. Given the "Burns Boys" alleged years of experience, you'd think they'd know by now that a new radio station needs to hit the ground running or it WILL be a short term thing.

But what they do need to get moving on is getting the correct, adult sounding jocks lined up to help the station evolve into a great HOT AC, which is what it is.

Continuing the point, what they needed was the correct, adult sounding jocks lined up BEFORE they even signed on. They are not a "great Hot AC" at all. They're a jukebox. An ipod with imaging and commercials. The music is a lot of fun, but the stuff between the music is bland.

Liner readers not gonna work.

Sorry, but their imaging sounds like consultant-written liner cards read by overenthusiastic voiceover talent. "Hi, I'm Cindy from the New Movin' 97-5! And here at Movin', we play the FUN music you listened to when you were a teenager! You know, the music that makes you feel good when you're driving your kids to soccer practice in the minivan? Yeah, that's it!"

Blech.

I have a feeling that if and when they hire jocks, they'll be relegated to repeating the same lame slogans dictated by the "Burns Boys."

The thing is, there's plenty of seasoned, talented jocks in this town who fit the demo, know the music, and for the right price would quit their weekend gigs for a chance to bring some personality to the barely-Movin' 97-5. I'm not talking rejects from Mega, either.

Lets give them a couple more weeks, the spring book starts in a month.

Like I said, they should have been ready to go a couple weeks before the fall book. If they haven't figured it out by the spring, then they don't deserve a couple more weeks.

I agree that it seems like MOViN is just a replica of my iPOD on the airwaves...

I'd like to see someone like Krazy Kid (and hopefully Ruben S) take the helm in the mornings...

I'm really lovin' the music choices - but it all just seems too repetitive...

Couldn't have said it better myself...

Ford, you're so right about the liners!! Today I'm listenin' to the music, driving along, havin' a good time, when a completely could-you-get-any-more-disingenous???-voice says, "Forget about your problems...Move your body to the music!!!"

Kind of annnoying, MOViN!!...thanks for reminding me of my life challenges that I had temporarily forgotten about while groovin' to the music, and don't tell me what to do...I'll move to the music when I want to!!!

oh SHUT UP!

KMVA isnt geared told most of the people that frequent this board (most of you are OLD).

The cyber generation is now becoming adults, and there are far more of us, and we are younger, stronger and have more spending power.

The people in this age bracket LOVE it. Most of my friends are shocked MOViN aint #1 yet.

You guys are just getting old.

go back to arguing about the same ole talk radio stations a s usual...

I'm 29 and I cannot think of anyone that I know of that listens to Movin'.

I think it's fairly obvious why they're not #1 nor will they ever be, as I have stated previously, a weak signal that covers maybe half the valley with people required to have sensitive antennas to get the station clearly, an absolutely lifeless station brought to you by Scott Studios (or some other automation system) and a bunch of bad imaging/liners that were no doubt written in last month's "radio consultant's monthly" magazine make Movin' a pretty bad station. Unlike some, I have a bit of optimism--but that will quickly diminish if they don't get (eh hem) Movin!

I'll say this with a great degree of certainty; Movin will never be #1 or even come close to challenging the big stations in the market for the reasons above and the fact that it's a very niche format. I bet it could surpass FREE-FM though, then again, I pirate station playing overmodulated Euro-pop could beat FREE-FM.

I'm 25, and I knew of a half-dozen of my friends who listened to Star 97.5 (*ting!*), and know of no one who listens to the new Movin'.

I don't care who the target audience is. At some point, crap is crap.

Gotta say, I miss Star too. Listened online. Movin is dead in the water in SF. The
Airstaff (mornings) just started a Month ago, the rest of the staff just got there
last week. The signal is a Blowtorch...The ratings, on for about 5 months, are the
lowest the station (KFRC-FM 99.7) has ever had. The format is one of those open the Box and add your call letters things, No airstaff for the first 3 months, the :15/:15 Dancing ass tv spots. Brad and Taysia...Not original, just easy. In a town like SF with an urban demo and a killer signal, It should do very well, except Clear channel already has 3 other stations that split that demo among themselves.

CBS no longer the Tiffany network It's more like The Typhaniey Network,
what a waste of a great signal. But then CBS spent 90 million to buy 106.9 Free FM. It's got a big signal too. In the 15 months it's been on, it has never even showed up in a BOOK.

Bring back the Star Lounge, or at least bring it to SF, Where grownups, Young and Old can enjoy it. A great station that was to hip for the room, or should I say Valley.

Lets leave Movin to the Mom's 25-35 who wish they were still in Highschool, which was the high point of their entire lives.

i liked star too. i have friends in their 20's & 30's who liked star better.

I'm also in my 20s and this "you must all be old" routine for talk radio discussion gets, well, old. I find myself listening to Movin more and more, but once I started listening, I would talk to non-radio people, who all responded with "huh?" A couple of these people listened to Star, as well.

As to the signal, it city-grades roughly 50% of the market. How much more than that does KEDJ cover? Sure, it covers the harder to reach areas, but still.

Over consulted, too many cliches and working too hard to say it.

If a radio station IS it, they don't have to overdo explanations because the listener GETS it.

And I know a lot of younger adults who loved Star.

Movin' may be a "niche" format, but it's not as niche as Star was. The "neo-standards" format is something that, if placed on an HD2 subchannel, may move a few HD Radio tuners off store shelves. There is a small, but loyal, market for this genre (and I admit to have enjoyed it at times), but not enough to be an "analog" format except for a show on KJZZ.

Untrue.

True. "Music that reminds you when of when men actually wanted you."
