Fats was one of a kind. A highlight of my childhood music. He almost died during hurricane Katrina because he lived his whole life in the Lower 9th Ward in NOLA.
The network newscast on WNAM said he lost a lot of his possessions but he stayed in the city after the hurricane was over.
I probably discovered him because of "Happy Days". I'm not sure whether his music was on Timeless Classics, but I know it was on the local affiliate. I don't think America's Best Music plays him but Good Time Oldies does.
