Air America affiliate adds Pacifica program "Democracy Now!" - Any Others???

Air America affiliate "Seattle's Progressive Talk...AM 1090" (KPTK-AM, aka KING-AM many yrs ago) will run "Democracy Now!" re-runs Sat and Sun mornings 9a-10a
starting this weekend...

I'm curious as if any other "progressive" talk stations, Air America affiliated or otherwise, have any Pacifica programs...Any ideas???
Any comments on this idea - positive or negative? My view: I think it's always a good idea when an Air America affiliate adds additional progressive programs instead of re-feeds of the weekday programming all night and weekends...

AAR has all but endorsed Pacifica radio as its top news source. This is a good fit. Pacifica (DN! and/or FSRN that is) has a lot of affiliates nationwide so there would be some redundancy in most markets (including Seattle).

I didn't see anything on the site about this, do you have a link?

Technically, DN! is not a Pacifica-owned program, though it originated that way.

It officially became independent of Pacifica in 2002.

Isn't that a half hour program with no commercial breaks? Or is there a longer version? I still want to ask if its OK with them if we have direct democracy and her side loses.<P ID="signature">______________

I did a quick check on Democracy Now's website. It looks like their affiliates are pretty much non-commercial FM stations and public access cable channels. Link TV and Free Speech also carry the TV version on Dish Network and DirecTV.
I did not see any commercial progressive talk stations listed.

First of all, Democracy Now is not a Pacifica program. It was at one time, but was kicked off the Pacifica stations and is now independently produced (although at least one Pacifica station now carries it again). Secondly, when and where did AAR "all but endorse Pacifica radio as its top news source?" I listen to Franken and Malloy and have never heard them or the AAR newscasters even mention Pacifica. Almost all of their news (including the audio used in their newscasts) comes from the Associated Press. They may be selective in what AP copy and audio they use, but that has nothing to do with Pacifica.

And BTW, the "Air America affiliate" in Seattle is owned by Infinity and carries several programs that have nothing to do with AAR.

Can't disagree.....its a good way to reduce the repeat programming and provide an established liberal outlet more play to the public.....i also am 100% that Pacifica is not invovled any more with Democracy Now....

Amy Goodman has been Franken's guest several times, makes frequent appearances on Laura Flanders' weekend show, and Randi Rhodes refers to her frequently.<P ID="signature">______________

That's a little different than AAR supposedly relying on Pacifica as its "top news source," since Amy Goodman doesn't even work for Pacifica. Franken has also had on people such as Sean Hannity and G. Gordon Liddy (several times)-- and AAR is hardly relying on THEM as "top news sources."

The Democracy Now web site says Democracy Now is on "over 300 stations."

The Pacifica web site says Pacifica has five "sister stations" and "over 75 affiliates."

The stations' coverage areas overlap, with some programming at the same time...

Laura hosts an excellent weekend show with guests and lots of callers on Air America radio, 4p-7p Pacific Sat and Sun (following Bob Brinker and Bobby Kennedey Jr.).

Brinker is carried on Santa Barbara's AAR affiliate, KIST 1340.
