Actually Talkers does not say Schultz gets higher ratings than Randi. They say he has more listerners (i.e cume) than Randi. Now if you believe talkers, (I don't) Schultz' cume is more than twice as high as Randi's (3.25 vs. 1.50.) How is this possible?? Most of their coverage comes from the same stations. However, Randi is on in NY (#1) and Schultz isn't and Randi is live in L.A. (#2) and Schultz is on at night frequently pre-empted by Sports. Yes, Schultz has over 30 exclusive affils, but he is mostly on at night in this universe. Also, most of these stations are in unrated markets and if you add up the coverage for the remaining markets it's only half as much as the coverage he loses in New York and L.A.! So this means that the only way Schultz's cume is more than double Randi's is if his ratings are more than twice as high as hers. This is not the case. In fact, Randi's ratings are 15% higher than Schultz'. That's why she's the number one lib talk host.

Ward's show has achieved double digit shares (better than 10.0) for the past half dozen ratings surveys. To give some perspective, AAR hosts in San Francisco rarely score higher than 1.5. Ward's show is easily number one in his time period and often the highest rated talk show on KGO. This is only his coverage in S.F. As Tom pointed out, KGO is a clear channel station (small "c") and puts out a booming signal that reaches from the Mexican to the Canadian border.
According to Talkers Magazine, Ed Schultz gets higher ratings than any host on Air America, including Randi.

Would you have any estimates as to the ratings of Bernie Ward?
