I've said it before, and I'll say it again. NPR has done liberal talk for decades, and it has always done it far better than Air America and the other commercial left wing talk products.
 
At least the right-wing nut-job talk show hosts are marginally entertaining. Air America's hosts just plain sucked. They had nothing in the bag.
 
Ha! Ha! I didn't even realize this crap was still even on! Ha, Ha! What? the whole... "HERE WE ARE! LISTEN TO US!" crap didn't work? There was an article about this whole thing that had some very entertaining quotes in it. Such as... "There was a needed outlet for the "left" on the air..." REALLY? So, if that's the case... why are you filing for bankruptcy...? If there is such a GREAT need for it... then the people would respond. However, like it or not... people DO NOT want to listen to DEMOCRATIC ORIENTED RADIO. What these morons do not get, is the fact that shows like Rush and so on... are just massively popular because of their format... they are massively popular BECAUSE they have been there for many, many years and have been building listeners for so many years, like it or not. What AIR AMERICA did or tried to do.. is the equivalent of me showing up at the Oscars in a month and saying I DESERVE an Oscar because that's what the people want!

AIR AMERICA could have had donors coming out of their ass's but it would have never saved them... because the donors would have eventually got tired of donating and never seeing any results from it. The same thing goes for any advertisers etc... The launching of AIR AMERICA was the equivalent of launching the TITANIC even though it has a big ass whole in the side of it. It was NEVER gonna float. Those whom thought it was going to be successful in any way, are truly some of the biggest morons in this Universe.

You can't be serious. Air America was just another broadcast enterprise trying to appeal to an audience vastly underserved by commercial radio. Their intent was no more ludicrous than all the Limbaugh's out there but obviously their execution was poor. I would happily listen to Democratic oriented radio but I won't listen if it is patterned after the blustery half-truths endemic to Republican oriented radio. You can pretend there are is no audience for liberal programming but you are just deluding yourself. And your Oscar analogy is as nonsensical as it is absurd.

The fatal flaw in Air America's business plan was not having been broadcasting for 20 years right from the start. I think that is what Crow meant. Wait...wha?

they are popular, like it or not, because personalities like Rush etc... have been doing their thing for years and years. They have grown their audience little by little. An "audience" who loves them or hates them. So, YES.... the individuals who thought that they could just BUY their markets and be successful.... are the BIGGEST MORONS in the universe.

The is a NEED????? There is an audience VASTLY underserved????? So, why were they NOT successful?? And the statement that it was all a matter of POOR EXECUTION... that is a massive COP OUT. Air America had many years to re-think their "POOR EXECUTION" and fix it... IF that was the issue. However, that wasn't the issue. I find it comical that I am "deluding" MYSELF... yet you think that there is this audience that is VASTLY UNDERSERVED. The FACT that AIR AMERICA FAILED and FAILED IN A BIG WAY... is evidence that this "audience" that you state is vastly undeserved.... is not a VERY big audience. Most American's are middle of the road when it comes to politics, social issues etc... Most American's are NOT right wing radicals or left wing radicals. However, between the two formats.... right wing radio is the most successful because it has been there for years... building it's audience of lovers and haters. However, if you want to feel or believe that there is an underserved need for left wing radio... please go right ahead.
 
Conservative talkers have been promoted by deep pocket owners who don't mind losing billions for years as long as their message gets out. Look at Murdoch's Fox News which was run for years losing tons of money, and Rev. Moon's Washington Times, which the $3 billion loss over 30 years mattered little as long as it was the "favorite paper" of Reagan. Same with ABC, which took the rightward push only after ultra conservative (and CIA influenced -- co founders Lowell Thomas and Thomas Dewey were both on the CIA payroll) Cap Cities bought the network in 1985.
