Air America Radio Statement - Take two

I don't think this statement provides as many answers as it raises questions, but here it is:

Statement from Air America Radio
Statement:
If the allegations of mismanagement and corruption at Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club are true, it is absolutely disgraceful.

As reported in the Wall Street Journal and the HBO Documentary, Left of the Dial‚ the company that the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club officials gave money to, Progress Media, has been defunct since May 2004. That company was run at the time by Evan Cohen who has not had any involvement in Air America Radio since May 2004.

The current owners of Air America Radio have no obligation to Progress Media‚s business activities. We are very disturbed that Air America Radio's good name could be associated with a reduction in services for young people, which is why we agreed months ago to fully compensate the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club as a result of this transaction.

We at Air America Radio strongly believe in the mission of Boys and Girls Clubs to provide a safe and nurturing place for young people to learn and grow. As a result, we recently allowed the same club, Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club, to use our name in a fundraising effort for a summer camp for children in their community.

The funding for Camp Air America was raised and collected entirely by the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club, and Air America promoted the camp on air and urged support for it. A link on our web site sent those interested in contributing to the camp to the Gloria Wise web site. Regrettably, the camp did not survive the closure of the Gloria Wise organization. We have offered any individuals who contributed to the camp as a result of Air America's promotion the option of a refund paid for by Air America Radio and the Club offered the alternative option of having their donation redirected to Kip's Bay Boys and Girls Club.

The only question here is why you are flogging this dead horse. No investigation against Air America by any law enforcement agency in NY... none, zip, nada.

AAR is the entity that keeps putting out the press releases. Don't you want to hear their side? If there has been no investigation then how do you know that everything is on the up and up? What are you afraid of?

This continues to prove my point about the right doing every thing humanly possible to smear or crush AAR.....This link contains information about the "alleged story" and supporting information why this is a bunch of BS like Dampier keeps making clear...there is no AAR investigation and AAR has nothing to do with the past transgressions of Evan Cohen

AAr has to respond to this. Otherwise its almost like the Kerry situation last year....you have to respond to these false charges...although in a normal world AAR shouldn't have to answer this because its so clear this is a legacy of the original management and Evan Cohen...not the current Piquant operation.

WHAT questions? It seems that this statement, in the context of the other radio stories written about the situation (from reputable sources instead of a partisan blog or two) has pretty much spelled everything out.

Just what further legitimate questions could you possibly have? It sounds like you wanna take a swing at some innocent cans of Alpo*, and there's nothing there.

You could look at this two ways... if the right is trying to "crush" AAR then they are doing a bad job as it seem to give AAR press.

From what I can tell, there was one or maybe two press releases in response to a blizzard of junk from the blogs.

I don't have all the facts - law enforcement in NY knows more than I, the posters on this forum, the right wing blogs, Newsmax, etc. From what they have put together, there is nothing -to- investigate when it comes to Air America Radio. If I were Mr. Sleazy Cohen, I'd be getting a good lawyer right now. I hope they do investigate him and those in NYC government or non profit circles that put this deal together. I hope said individuals are made to pay back every penny that was found to be illegitimately used for whatever purpose. But this has nothing to do with Air America Radio, and there are several people with an agenda who are trying as hard as they can to say otherwise.

Either way it's a disaster because the only ones biting are the Daily News and a paper in the Bronx. That's not the Washington Post or the NY Times. I'm sure the Washington Times will have chimed in by the end of next week.

If you want to call it a thought go ahead but it sounds quite FauxNews-like...<wait for the loud, nauseating music>...and the "some people say" thing that the hosts do so well to create doubt...

Why would AAR try to create publicity that would reflect negatively on them...thats insanity only the right wing echo machine can generate....

Dampier had a point earlier..the Washington Times waded right in but not far enough to write a full story...just some editorial blather prasing the "reporting" of unemployed radio blogger Brian "12+ ratings excite me" Maloney, who seems by his writings to have the largest ax ever to grind against Air America...so its not a shock that he would be a catalyst to help push this distortion of facts around to Michelle Malkin and others.....

If only communication about the inaccuracies and misrepresentation about the war went around the right wing machine as fast as did...more people would understand the truth about the war...oh well i can dream....LOL...(my opinion..nothing more)

1) What were the assets purchased?

2) What was the purchase price?

3) What role, if any, did the entity RadioFree America play in the sale?

4) At the time of the sale, the time of incorporation and currently, who are the officers, board members, stockholders (including number and percentage of shares of all classes) and major creditors of Piquant LLC?

5) Was the money “given” by Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club a gift or a loan, and, if a loan, what are the terms and are they in writing?

6) What other loans or obligations of Progress Media has Piquant LLC agreed to pay?

7) Is it AAR’s contention that Gloria Wise is closed or defunct?

8) Are there or have there been any connections between those individuals cited in question 4) and Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club and, if so, what were they?

9) What is your understanding of the meaning of the term “piercing the corporate veil”?
