Air Balloon Topples KKOB Radio Towers

Huge air balloons are beautiful at the Albuquerque Baloon Festival - until one plows over a 50 KW radio broadcast tower.
Lawsuits for damages and loss of revenue are being written.
The KKOB tower was also hit in 2004 - by a "Smokey Bear" Baloon. (no forest fire reported)

There was likely no loss of revenue as nearly all listening in the survey area is on FM. In fact, the station probably garnered additional listening from people who wanted to hear the story from the source!

I do wonder if the organizer of the event has insurance, though. Many of the balloon owners are not wealthy and likely have no assets to sue for. But each probably has their own insurance, too.

I do hope that the crew on the unfortunate balloon was not injured and are safe. Towers are replaceable, but people are not.
